10 Perfect Inexpensive Date Ideas in San Diego

Dating in San Diego can get pretty expensive. With so much to do it’s hard not to empty out your wallet on dates. Below are some inexpensive fun and cute date ideas that you can take your special someone on in San Diego!

1. Picnic at the Beach

Of course the go-to date in San Diego would be one of its wonderful beaches! Pack a lunch and enjoy a day at La Jolla Shores, Del Mar, Mission Bay, Sunset Cliffs, etc, etc! If you’re leaning towards the romantic side for the date, then pack a dinner and enjoy the beautiful sunset! You can’t go wrong with a beach date and a romantic walk along the shore or a nice swim with the waves.

2. Hike up Cowles Mountain

Take this easy hike up to Cowles Mountain! It’s only about 3 miles round trip and it’s the high peak in San Diego county. At the top you can see amazing 360 degree views of the entire San Diego county. If you’re willing to get up early then this place is also perfect for a sunrise hike!

3. Liberty Public Market

Grab some food or just walk around the Liberty Market! It’s a cute little center that offers lots of food vendors as well as a cute area to look around all the little shops. Perfect for the day or at night.

4. Picnic at Centennial Park

Centennial park offers a perfect view of downtown San Diego. Come out here for a night picnic and enjoy the view of all the lights of San Diego and it’s right in the beautiful Coronado. It also has a small beach area and little shops nearby to walk around!

5. Belmont Park

Right in Mission Bay, Belmont park is the perfect place to spend the day. Although rides can get expensive, mini golfing is a perfect date here for $9.00 a game. There’s also the boardwalk and the beach right there to enjoy. You could also rent a bike and bike around the beach and the mission bay area. This date is sure to be fun filled with so much to do in the bay area!

6. Bowling

A typical date that’s not specific to San Diego but still so much fun! Although bowling can get expensive, it can be made more affordable when looking at which hours to go are the cheapest! (Usually weekdays or late nights).

7. Comedy Shows

San Diego offers lots of comedy stand up shows that range from free to about $15 a ticket! From the National Comedy Theater to little cafes, you can be sure to find one that will fit your budget. Attend one for a fun night full of laughs with your date!

8. Cabrillo National Monument

Visit a national park for the day! Cabrillo is rich with history along with amazing views of the San Diego Bay. Enjoy the day here walking around then going down to the tide-pools for a nice walk along the shore!

9. Balboa Park

Enjoy the day exploring Balboa Park! It offers tons of museums, gardens, and many sightseeing attractions! With it’s beautiful architecture you can spend the day taking photos or walking around to enjoy the beautiful park. Pack a for a picnic as well and enjoy this beautiful park!

 

10. Kayaking at Mission Bay

Take advantage of the beautiful bay area and rent a kayak (or bring your own). Mission Bay offers the perfect place to go kayaking. After you can enjoy a picnic there or even a bonfire!
