Winter is just around the corner and coming up with date ideas can be more difficult without the warm weather and free time of summer to inspire you. Here are some cozy and super cute date ideas to take your boyfriend on this winter!
One of my absolute favorite things to do in December is taking a nice walk around town and admire the Christmas lights and decorations that people put so much time and effort into putting up. While this is fun to do alone, it is also a super cute winter date idea! Make a few cups of hot cocoa in to-go mugs for the two of you and make sure to bundle up with a warm coat and gloves because baby, it is cold outside. Walking around admiring the lights together is such a romantic and festive way to spend a winter evening with your man, plus he is there to keep you extra warm as you walk through the streets! This date is completely free unless you have to pay for parking in your city, and is the perfect way to catch up with each other after a long day of classes or work and get into the Christmas spirit.
Now, this is not one that I would go on because I have the balance of a newborn giraffe, however, it is one of the cutest and most classic winter date ideas. Whether you have a frozen lake or pond you can skate on or just an indoor ice rink in the next town over, ice skating is a great activity for date night. Similar to a walk to admire the warm glow of Christmas lights in historic downtown, you will want to dress in layers to go ice skating as it can get a bit chilly. You’ll warm up as you get moving of course, and if you are like me and struggle with balance, it will make the date even more fun for the two of you! Ice skating is usually not too much of a cost and is a great way to spend a few hours prior to grabbing a delicious, warm meal together.
If being outside in the cold just isn’t for you, stay in and enjoy some cocoa as you and your boyfriend warm up by the fire! Cozy up with a comfy fleece blanket and some reading socks to keep extra warm, throw on some music, and just enjoy each other’s company. Be present and in the moment with your man, don’t plan anything beyond that and just see where the night takes you. So often we are thinking about what is next and planning the next thing we want to do before it happens, which prevents you from living in the moment and truly enjoying it. It’s not the most elaborate or inventive of winter date ideas, but I think that it is one that you and your boyfriend will really appreciate when it is over. Deep conversation and simply spending time together is so important, so why not make time for it now? Plus, hot cocoa and a warm fire are great incentives!
Probably my favorite of all the winter date ideas is exploring a Christmas market. I have been to my fair share of these and they never fail to put a smile on my face. If you happen to be in Europe for the holiday season, I highly recommend you attend a Christmas market in Germany or France, because gluhwein, a warm wine beverage is served at most booths and is the perfect, delicious source of warmth. If you are in the United States for the holidays, there are still many wonderful Christmas markets that you can visit and get your dose of holiday cheer with your boyfriend. Besides warm beverages, such as gluhwein, there are also savory and sweet food items to sample, and of course, festive knickknacks and trinkets to purchase! Strolling through the rows of booths hand in hand while listening to the Christmas music being played throughout the market is sure to bring you and your boyfriend together and put a smile on both of your faces. Some of my favorite holiday memories involve exploring little villages that host quaint Christmas markets every year, if you decide to try out this date idea, you will not regret it!
Last on this list of cozy and cute winter date ideas is another classic, watching movies in a blanket for that you and your boyfriend build together. Building a fort requires a bit of ingenuity and creativity and is so much fun to create with things you have on hand such as fuzzy blankets, throw pillows, and chairs. You can make it look aesthetically pleasing by using materials that color coordinate, adding some string lights to set the cozy vibe, and of course, building your fort so that the television is within the fort or just bringing your laptop into the fort if you would rather. The most comfortable blanket fort I have ever constructed, and trust me because I helped build my fair share in college, involved a mattress. The floor is incredibly uncomfortable and honestly, just sitting on blankets and pillows was never comfortable for long. Therefore, a genius move is to use a mattress to act as the floor of the fort. This ensures that you can enjoy the fort for a longer period of time, plus makes it easier to cuddle while you watch y’all’s favorite movies! Throw in your boyfriend’s favorite snacks and alcoholic beverage if you are of age, and you have an extremely fun and low-key date night planned that you both are sure to love.
