Cocktail Drinks That You Should Learn To Get Your Adult Badge

Being an adult can be pleasant. Enjoying a nice cocktail is one of the greatest things about being an adult. For many that don’t drink or are new to drinking, it can be odd considering you don’t know how they are made, what drinks are good, etc. This article is going to share some cool cocktails for you to make and enjoy with you and your friends. Making one of these will definitely give you some brownie points at your next party. Master a couple of these, so you make it at the next party you’re hosting.

1. Moscow Mule

A Moscow Mule is a very simple and refreshing cocktail drink. You can find multiple variations of it online. The basic recipe of it calls for vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice. It is super easy to make and traditionally poured in a brass styled mug. If you want the drink a bit sweeter, feel free to add some simple syrup, so you don’t mess up the flavors. To make simple syrup, you just need water and sugar. You find a short video on YouTube to use as a guideline, but the recipe is just that simple.

2. Old-fashioned

The old-fashioned has a reputation for being a man’s drink, but it does not matter. This is still a valuable recipe to have in your arsenal. It requires whiskey (bourbon), a sugar cube, bitters, a cherry, and a lemon or orange peel. Bitters are basically an alcoholic beverage on its own that has been mixed with water, alcohol, fruit, and herbs for it to have a distinct flavor. They are alcoholic spirits.

3. Manhattan

Manhattan is another sophisticated drink that most young girls don’t usually drink, but it is a classic and great drink nonetheless. It calls for sweet vermouth, rye whiskey, and bitters. The cherries in the picture is just for garnish.

4. Cosmopolitan

Cosmo was mainly popularized from the show Sex In The City and is now viewed as a modern woman’s drink. Ignore the stigma and the weird joke people may make, do you, and enjoy your cocktail. Cosmopolitans have vodka, cranberry juice, lime juice, and Cointreau or triple sec. Cosmos can be customized with different juices and flavors to tailor it to your own taste buds.

5. White Russian

White Russians are a classic, creamy beverage for the chillier months. This would be great to have during the fall, while you are snuggled up in your home from the crisp weather outside. This drink calls for vodka, Kahula, and cream or milk. You can enjoy this drink with spices like cinnamon or even flavored coffee creamer. The recipe below shows how to make the drink with vanilla iced tea for added zing.

6. Mojito

Mojitos are one of the most well-known refreshing alcoholic beverages out there. This drink requires white rum, mint leaves, lime juice, simple syrup, and club soda. Extra mint leaves can be used to garnish and provide extra freshness.

7. Margarita

This margarita is a classic recipe. Many people love margarita mix to make their margaritas, but I have to inform you that, that’s disrespectful and not as delicious. Margita mix is for a quick fix, and it nowhere near comparable to the real deal. Do yourself a solid and purchase this ingredient to make it: tequila, lime juice, a splash of fruit juice, Cointreau orange liqueur. Your body and soul will thank you.

8. Hot Toddy

A hot toddy is perfect for the nippy fall and winter months. This drink has a lot of spice and sass, it would put you in the mind of a spiked apple cider. For your most basic hot toddy, you will need fireball, dark sugar/honey, hot water, lemon juice, cinnamon stick. The recipe below has tons of more spice, so if you can handle it feel free to make it instead of the simplified version.

9. Whiskey Sour

A whiskey sour is one of those classic drinks that you just don’t question. I mention that because this drink calls for egg whites. If that grosses you out, then skip this one. I don’t make the rules. I just know that it’s a classic and it tastes good. For this drink, you will need whiskey, simple syrup, lemon juice, egg whites. Of course, the drink pictured below has an orange and a cherry for garnish.

10. Daiquiri

A daiquiri is a drink that has been modified and adapted to make certain fruits and flavorings. The most basic daiquiri calls for light rum, simple syrup, lime juice. The recipe and picture below show a strawberry daiquiri. If you are not a fan of strawberry, you can use mango, pineapple, blackberry, whatever you like. To change the fruit, just replace the frozen strawberries in the recipe for frozen mango or whatever fruit you are using.

11. Mimosa

Mimosas are excellent for brunch and breakfast, because of the ingredients it contains. They are also popular for holidays like Mother’s Day and Christmas. This probably the most simple drink you can make on this list. It just calls for orange juice and champagne. You can garnish with strawberries, like in the picture if you like. This beverage is usually served in a wine or champagne glass.

12. Tequila Sunrise

This is a nice and impressive drink that is still pretty simple and easy to do. The three main ingredients are orange juice, tequila, and grenadine syrup. The key to getting the gradient effect is how you assemble the drink. Your pour the tequila, the orange juice, then add ice, and then you use an upside-down spoon to have the syrup drizzle in the glass. If that’s a bit confusing, feel free to use the link to see the recipe as well as a video on how to make this fabulous drink.
