10 Camping Dessert Ideas To Try When You Have Limited Options

I am a desserts kind of girl. I mean, I am the sort of person who says they are stuffed, then asks what’s for dessert 3 minutes later, and I am no different when I go camping. But to any of you fellow campers, you know just how limited camp cooking can be… a one burner camp stove or even just the campfire itself, no one is Gordon Ramsey in the woods. But don’t reach for the emergency Snickers bar just yet, because I have found ten killer camping dessert ideas that are not only delicious, they are easy enough for the laziest of campers… I would know, I am one of them.

Banana Boat

Move aside S’mores, there’s a new fireside favorite in town… but not too far because s’mores are amazing. I have been making Banana Boats since I was a kid, and I still love them. For this easy camping dessert, you only need a banana, some chocolate (Hersey’s will do), some marshmallows, tin foil, and a knife. Just peel the banana, slice a section out of the top lengthwise, stuff said section with the chocolate and marshmallows, put the peel back around the banana, and wrap it up in tin foil. Then you find a nice section of the fire (not in the flames) and let the treat cook for 5-ish minutes. It will be gooey and delicious… you’re welcome.

Cinnamon Roll Stick

This one takes some patience but is otherwise as easy as they come. Grab a good strong roasting stick, your favorite tubed cinnamon rolls, and a nice fire. All you have to do is wrap the cinnamon roll around the stick and roast it over the fire, and you have a bomb dessert… Just make sure you cook these all the way because doughy rolls are a buzz kill.

Samoa Sandwich

If you are lucky enough to get your hands on a box of Samoa Girl Scout cookies, consider bringing them on your next camping trip. When you combine two of these cookies with a perfectly roasted marshmallow, you get a s’more on steroids.

Campfire Granola

This one is easy and at least a little healthier than the others. Take your go-to granola, some marshmallows, chocolate, and nuts, if you are into that sort of thing, and combine them in a tin foil pocket. Roast this concoction next to the fire until the marshmallows and chocolate have melted… turning it into a healthy dessert.

Cone Crazy

I have never successfully gotten my waffle cones to my camping spots intake, but if you can, you are in for a treat. Fill your waffle cone with tiny marshmallows… and literally whatever else you want, wrap it in tin foil, and roast them to perfection. My favorite combo is banana, walnuts, chocolate chunks, and coconut flakes!

Pancakes at Night

Free pancakes from the bonds of being labeled a breakfast food and have them for dessert. If you have a pan and a cook stove, cook up some pancakes and go crazy with the toppings… I’m talking chocolate chips, bananas, peanut butter… you name it, and I’ve put it on my dessert pancakes.

Brownie Madness

Take some soft brownies in a baggie with you, and combine them with marshmallows and chocolate chunks in yet another tin foil pocket, and after 5 minutes near a hot fire, you will have a brownie lover’s dream camping dessert. I am just obsessed with these camping dessert ideas!

Apple Crisp

Sliced apples, granola or oats, some sugar, some cinnamon, and walnuts… wrapped in a tin foil pocket, and you got the makings for a fireside apple crisp. This one takes a little more time, so start it with dinner, so you can have it hot right before bed.

Adult Hot Chocolate

Grab some Bailey’s and some marshmallows, and put them in a temperature safe mug because things are heating up. Heat the Bailey’s to a high steam and combine with the marshmallows for a perfect adult drink on cold nights. You really should just try all of these camping dessert ideas.

Grilled Pineapple

I know pineapple isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when the word dessert is thrown around, but when this fruit is topped with brown sugar and cinnamon, and roasted over a strong fire… it is amazing. Perfect dessert for those who don’t want to wake up with a marshmallow belly ache.
