Personally, I absolutely love to read. Books are tools that transport us to different places, teach us new things about ourselves and the world around us, and provide us with incredible entertainment and value.

There are so many incredible books out there, and with the new year now upon us, here ate nine books that you need to keep an eye out for in 2023!

1. Spare by Prince Harry

With the new Netflix documentary about Harry and Meghan, people around the world are more interested than ever in the lives of the royal family members and in their unique experience and love story. Coming out on January 10, Prince Harry’s biography promises to tell the brutally honest story of his life.

This book will likely dive deeply into the drama surrounding the Royal Family and Harry and Meghan’s exit from their duties in England. Told from Harry’s personal perspective, he has stated that he’s written a raw, honest truth of what has happened behind closed doors and give insight into his mindset during that time.

Be sure to look out for this book near the very beginning of 2023 and get ready to be blown away by Harry’s biographical tale!

2. Happy Place by Emily Henry

Emily Henry is known for some of the most popular romance novels of the past few years; People We Meet on Vacation, Book Lovers, and Beach Read are all best-selling novels of hers. In late April of this year, she’ll be releasing her newest book, Happy Place!

This romance follows a couple of exes—Harriet and Wyn—who must pretend to still be dating for a weeklong vacation with their friends. They are determined not to let their friends know about their breakup, and they’re even more determined not to fall for each other… again. This is bound to be a drama-filled book, and Emily Henry is known for her fun, breezy, feel-good novels.

Be sure to look out for this one in bookstores this spring; just in time for spring break so you can lounge on the beach with a great book!

3. I Have Some Questions For You by Rebecca Makkai

A Pulitzer Prize Finalist, Rebecca Makkai is an incredible author and is coming out with a new, highly anticipated novel on February 21st of 2023. Her new book falls under the mystery genre, and every bit of information about it so far is captivating.

This is the highly anticipated sequel to Leigh Bardugo’s dark academia novel Ninth House; if you haven’t read it yet, runto the bookstore to snag a copy! The second book will follow main character Galaxy “Alex” Stern, who has the ability to see ghosts, as she attempts to pull off a daring mission…

8. Love, Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood

Perhaps you’ve already read Ali Hazelwood’s The Love Hypothesis, which was arguably one of the most popular romance novels of 2022. Luckily for all of us, her new book is coming out on June 13th of this year and it’s sure to be just as romantic and just as nerdy!

This story follows theoretical physicist Elsie, who also makes money as a fake-girlfriend-for-hire. When she gets hired by Jack, the arrogant (but handsome) older brother of her favorite client who also happens to be the widely hated physicist that ruined her mentor’s career and ALSO runs the MIT physics department where Elsie’s dream job is, how will her theories on love hold up?

Lovers of romance everywhere need to have this adorable new romance on the 2023 TBR list, so keep an eye out for it this summer!

9. A Day of Fallen Night by Samantha Shannon

If the name Samantha Shannon sounds familiar, it’s probably because she’s the author of the hugely popular novel The Priory of the Orange Tree, a stunning and beautiful epic. A Day of Fallen Night will be the standalone prequel to this book, and people all over are growing increasingly excited for its release.

This prequel will dive back into the same world of The Priory of the Orange Tree, so you can expect the same level of incredible high fantasy and even more powerful, female characters. The expected release date of this book is February 28, so mark your calendars!
