Best Summer Activities To Do In San Francisco

Any native of the city will tell you that there are plenty of summer activities to do in San Francisco — and they’re right. The sun is shining, the breeze is blowing and we’re in one of the best cities in California. So get ready to fill the long days with good friends and the best memories because we have a list of the best summer activities to do in San Francisco.

1. Go thrift shopping on Haight Street

If you’re sick of going to the mall this summer, check out Haight Street for an awesome shopping experience. By some amazing stroke of luck, the thrift stores in San Francisco are actually perfect. They have top-notch and brand-name items for every single style. Vintage Levi’s for less than $20? Yes, please! There are plenty of thrift stores on this street so you have plenty of opportunities to fill that closet on a budget!

2. Bike along the Golden Gate Bridge

Many San Franciscans are probably so over the Golden Gate Bridge, but biking along 1.7 mile stretch as the wind blows through your hair is something close to euphoria. It’s freeing, exhilarating and a great work out. There are plenty of bike rental shops nearby for you to check out if you don’t have one of your own. Bring your water bottles and pack a snack to enjoy at the end as you overlook the bay. Get that energy refueled — you still have to ride back!

3. Cheer the Giants on at AT&T Park

If a Giants baseball game isn’t on your list of summer activities to do in San Francisco, you need to add it ASAP. Baseball games are the pinnacle of summertime and it would be a travesty to not cheer on the boys in black and orange at least once. Even if you’re not a huge baseball fan, the crowd at this stadium will get you hyped. There’s nothing like watching a man with a baseball painted on his face scream and cheer for nine innings! Order some nachos, drink a beer and enjoy.

4. Have a picnic in Mission Dolores Park

Take advantage of the days when the city isn’t covered in a fog by visiting Mission Dolores Park! Grab your picnic baskets, blankets and doggos and bask in the warm sunlight. Go solo, on a date or bring a group of friends on a Sunday afternoon. Don’t forget to pack all your favorite foods — store-bought or homemade — to munch on. Bring a frisbee or a football to throw around. A simple summer activity idea that can easily be one of the best days.

5. Eat fresh seafood at Fisherman’s Wharf

As far as summer activities to do in San Francisco goes, this one needs to happen at least once a week. We are so lucky to live so close to fresh seafood and we need to be taking advantage of it this summer! Whether you have a hankering for fish-and-chips, fresh oysters or even clam chowder in a sourdough bowl, you can always expect the best at Fisherman’s Wharf! Walk around the pier and check out the stores to work some of the food off.

Whether you believe in the supernatural or not, it’s a fun activity to do with family or friends and gets you deeper in the history of San Francisco. Who knows? You might run into the ghost Al Capone!

7. Go on a museum date

If you’re so over being outside, have a museum day! Whether it’s with your BFF or S/O, it’s a great way to spend an afternoon. The Exploratorium and Walt Disney Family Museum needs easily needs to be on your list of summer activities to do in San Francisco.
