When I think of back to school, I think of the transition to fall, wearing booties and patterned scarves as the seasons change. I often forget that school starts when it’s still summer, and my school shopping that consists of warm sweaters and new jeans don’t suffice in the August sun. Here are back to school outfits that transition easily from summer to school to keep cool when the late summer heat hits.
This is a perfect first day of school outfit. It’s easy to style, will make you look put together, and of course is nice and breezy.
Mini denim skirts are a staple for a school wardrobe. They are perfect with graphic tees or blouses for warmer days, and when the seasons do change they can be worn with boots and cozy sweaters.
Throw on some high waisted mom jean shorts with any top for a trendy look. These slightly baggy shorts are comfortable and perfectly capable of withstanding the heat between classes.
The square neckline has been super popular lately, and it’s easy to see why. This distinct style is super cute for school, and can be dressed down for school with a basic tee underneath and some sneakers.
In general, dresses are great for staying cool on hot days. Overall dresses allow you to dress up graphic tees, or keep it simple with basic tanks underneath.
If you don’t feel like showing a lot of leg, but also don’t want to put on jeans, try a midi skirt and blouse. This combo is great for when you may have to dress up slightly for presentations or speeches in class.
Jumpsuits are perfect for school as they require little styling and very comfortable. Depending on the fabric of the jumpsuit, they tend to be very light and airy–great for August school days.
