5 Tips For A Stress-Free Graduation Party

It is the time of year that everyone is beginning to plan their graduation party. These events can be extremely stressful unless planned right. Knowing how to plan a stress-free graduation party is so important as it is bound to already be a stressful period of time. Whether you are graduation university or high school, these five tips will help you get your party planning underway!

1. Don’t Invite Everyone

Graduating is a very exciting time and you want your graduation party to include lots of people to celebrate your achievement. However, when you are writing your invite list do not confuse people who will come to celebrate you and your achievements with those that will just attend for the party. You want to make sure that the people you invite to your graduation party are those that you are closest to. A smaller, intimate group will be much more meaningful than a full blown “rager”.

The people you should consider inviting are immediate family members that you feel are the most important to you (this may be your parents, grandparents, siblings, etc), your close friends, and anyone else who had an impact on your studies. You can also invite any university friends; however, keep in mind that if they are also graduating, they probably have a graduation party of their own to attend.

2. Consider Having it in a Private Venue

If you are hosting a graduation party on the same nights as your graduation ceremony, then chances are that everyone else is to. Cities, especially small ones, often see their restaurants booked out during graduation weekends. Because of this it is probably a good idea to not go out to a restaurant, pub or bar as all of the other parties are likely to be there as well.

There is nothing worse than trying to celebrate and talk to your guests and not being able to hear over all of the other graduation parties that are going on around you. So, if it is possible, consider having your graduation party in a private venue. This could mean either in yours or a family member’s backyard or hiring out a local function room or hall.

3. Organise a Playlist Beforehand

Your graduation party will definitely need music to keep it fun and entertaining. While music is needed to keep these vibes going, there is nothing worse than having to spend the night interrupting conversations with your guests to “queue” the next song and the awkward silence in between one song ending and the next one being chosen.

It is incredibly important to pre-plan your graduation party by making a playlist beforehand that can last all night. When organising this playlist, make sure you consider the guests you have invited and try to include a variety of music that everyone will be able to enjoy.

4. Keep the Food Simple

If you are thinking of providing food at your graduation party, you should make sure you keep it simple. You don’t want to do a three-course meal because it will become expensive, time-consuming and difficult. The easiest food to do – and something that is quite trendy right now – is an oversized cheeseboard.

You can pick whatever you want: a range of cheeses, meats, pickles, dips, fruits and vegetables. Doing this also makes it easy to cater to a range of different dietary requirements. Pair this cheeseboard with crackers, breads, some different salads, a roast chicken and rolls and you will have enough food for all your guests!

5. Wear Something Comfortable

You will probably dress up for your graduation ceremony – heels, dresses, suits and dress shoes. Once you arrive at your graduation party it is a good idea to change into something a bit more comfortable, this allows you to relax and enjoy your evening. Swap the heels for some sandals or the dress shoes for a pair of sneakers. If your clothes are tight change into something that is still nice but will be comfy for the whole night.
