10 Things You Will Never Hear A Student Say At UNSW

Here at UNSW, you can hear us students say some pretty crazy things like ‘I spend more time on public transport than at uni!’ and ‘I just spent all my life savings on food!’ But here are some things you will NEVER hear a student say at UNSW.

1. “I’m going to do some quiet, productive study on Level 3 in the library because it’s so peaceful there and everyone uses their inside voices.”

You’d have better luck studying in a mosh pit at a concert than on Level 3 of the library. If you actually want to be productive, try Level 9.

2. “Where is the Coffee Cart?”

Who doesn’t know where their life source is?

3. “Yes, I definitely have enough money and time to spend at the Whitehouse and I won’t complain about how broke I am as I eat my overpriced meal.”

But hey, you deserve to treat yourself once in a while, right?

4. “I chose to come to UNSW because I enjoy the travel and I don’t need to spend my money on other things other than topping up my Opal card every week.”

The endless queue for the bus, the scheduled weekly top ups, the lingering question of whether it’ll take 15 minutes or 45 minutes to get to uni. What’s not to love?

5. “I think I have a chance with the hot person I saw at the bus stop this morning!”

You’re standing at the bus stop with your earphones blasting Adele’s Hello when out of the corner of your eye, you spot the most magical human being you’ve ever laid your eyes on. But before you muster up the courage to talk to them, they step on the packed 891 and ride away into heavy traffic, never to be seen again.

6. “I’m definitely not afraid when other students approach me with fliers and try to talk to me.”

Don’t people understand that I want to be left alone and hate social interactions?

7. “I love the nice, scenic walk from the Sir Clancy Auditorium building to the Squarehouse!”

There’s nothing more enjoyable than hiking up and down the Basser Steps and power walking across the whole campus to get to your next class.

8. “I’m so excited to do my referencing!”

It’s 2 am and you’re sitting in your room, trying to make sure that comma is where it’s supposed to be. We’ve all been there.

9. “I think I’m actually going to find love on the UNSW Love Letters Facebook page.”

Let’s be real, besides being a great source of entertainment and something to laugh about with others, you’d have a better chance finding motivation for uni work than finding love.

10. “Everyone is so normal here.”

Um.
