10 Things To Keep In Your Uni Bag

Besides the usual phone, textbooks, laptops and pencil case, here are some lesser-known everyday essential things to keep in your uni bag.

1. Water bottle

Always bring your own water because who wants to pay $4 for water? Extra tip: you will remind yourself to stay hydrated throughout the day if you’ve got a heavy drink bottle weighing you down.

2. Tissues

If you’re like me, you’re always dropping food on yourself so keep a pack of tissues handy! It’s also great being someone else’s knight in shining armour when they are in desperate need of a tissue.

3. A snack

Speaking of food, you will thank yourself for bringing something to snack on when you can’t afford the $12 sandwich from the uni café or need something keep you awake in that boring tute.

4. Chewing gum or mints

It’s always handy to have a pack of gum at the ready when you’re out and about – just don’t let too many friends see when you pull one out or you’ll have to get a new pack every week!

5. Phone charger

At least bring a USB charger to keep your phone alive (especially if you Snapchat as much as I do throughout the day). Even if you don’t bring a laptop to uni, those prehistoric desktops are in the library for a reason.

6. Earphones

This one should be a no-brainer. Does anyone ever go anywhere without earphones these days?

7. Umbrella

No matter what the weather report says, there is always the chance of rain. And when your next class that starts in 5 minutes is all the way on the other side of campus, your classmates are going to wish they were as prepared as you.

8. Painkillers

That assignment worth 40% of your grade for the semester could cause a migraine at any given moment so be ready for it!

9. A pen

This might sound silly but keep a single pen in your bag because there will come a day where you accidentally leave your pencil case at home or maybe you just lent your last good pen to that questionable friend who said they will give it back at the end of the tute but never did.

10. Cash

Make it a habit of keeping some spare change or $20 note in the secret compartment of your bag. You never know when you might get caught out without your card or at a café that charges a 10% surcharge for purchases under $10.
