5 Affordable Alarm Clocks To Get You Up On Time

Sometimes, it can be difficult to get up in the morning, and sometimes your phone alarm just isn’t enough. If this is the case for you, try one of these five alarm clocks, and ensure you wake up on time.

1. Dekala Sunrise Alarm Clock.

This aesthetic little alarm clock, made by Dekala, has a fairly impressive suite of features in even its basic model. It has the digital display, built-in radio, and dual-mode alarm that are standard features on any worthwhile alarm clock. However, this 30-40 dollar device really shines in its extra features. The first of which is its sunrise and RGB lighting capability. This clock can simulate a sunrise, or if you need something tackier, a straight-up rave, in addition to an audio alarm. It can also operate as a nightlight if you need one, and if you do there’s no shame. It can also be used as a sleep aid, as it has a set of nature sounds if preprogrammed in. It also has a sleek and modern design that will complement a variety of decoration styles well. The main draw is definitely the light-based alarm, and is good if you want an effective alarm that won’t wake up the whole house or apartment complex.

2. Sage and Sill Wooden Cube Alarm Clock.

This alarm clock isn’t the most technologically groundbreaking thing on the market. It is, however, really nice looking. The unobtrusive, minimalist style works well with most types of decor, comes in several wood colors, and the rectangular version will also display the temperature. It can be run either by batteries or using a USB power cord, and even has a power-saving mode with voice sensitivity. Again, the main draw of this clock is the style and decoration potential. It’s not the loudest or the most special, but it’s pretty affordable, and is one of the most stylish entries on this list. One of the neat things about it is that it can be run off of AAA Batteries so you can use without needing to plug it in. It’s also quite energy-efficient, as anything that runs off small batteries for an extended time would have to be. This simplicity and efficiency can come at the cost of lacking extra features, but its good for what it does.  Overall a solid pick if you want a stylish digital clock with an alarm function for work or a dorm.

3.  Sonic Alert Sonic Bomb Jr.

I personally use this alarm clock, and can vouch for its effectiveness. This little monster will wake even the heaviest of sleepers, but is also not exactly the prettiest thing on the market. If you want an alarm clock that is pure function, and are the type of person who sleeps through most other alarms, the Sonic Bomb Jr will ensure you wake up on time. I use it because it’s alarm is incredibly loud and disruptive, to the point where I’ve conditioned myself to wake up earlier and earlier just to avoid it waking me up. However, if you’re living in a situation where this miniature air raid siren will earn you some flak from your roommates, the Sonic Bomb Jr comes with a bed-shaker. This attachment can be used either to make the alarm even more grating and disruptive (I put it in a box of loose change for maximum effect) or it can be used for its intended purpose as a low noise alternative to wake up heavy sleepers. Nothing wakes you up quite like your pillow or bed frame violently shaking. I recommend this one to heavy sleepers who value function over form.

4. Enkel Radio Digital Clock

This interesting little alarm clock is made by a somewhat obscure company, Enkel. This particular item will run you around 45 dollars, but it does have perks that justify the price tag. The company that produces this alarm clock has an image of being very eco-friendly, with carbon capture and tree donation statistics displayed on their online storefront. This is an admirable sentiment, and the main thing that sets this company’s products apart from the others. Speaking of the product, let’s actually talk about it, shall we? In addition to its apparently eco-friendly construction and carbon-neutral delivery, this alarm clock offers a fairly standard suite of features, including battery power, an inbuilt radio, and a relatively solid construction. However, I’d say the main selling point of this clock is its style and decor potential. It uses a minimalist/Japanese aesthetic, with a small rectangular form-factor and wooden exterior, Much like the cube alarm clock mentioned earlier on this list. However, unlike the cube, this alarm clock has analogue buttons and an antenna, making its function more obvious while maintaining a coherent design theme. It’s stylish, well-designed, and functional, and really what more do you want from a clock.

5. Kogonee Wooden Digital Alarm Clock.

Our final alarm clock is proof that you don’t need to pay big money for a stylish and functional product. This product, which costs at most $30 on Amazon, incorporates many of the aesthetic styling seen previously on this list while retaining great functionality. Notably, this alarm clock has a triangular prism form-factor, comes in several colors, and has a durable wooden exterior. This modern-style item can work well in a variety of dorm settings and decor themes, so it’s great for those who want style on a budget. When it comes to functionality, this clock is no slouch either. It features a rechargeable battery, USB power cable, and a large and easy-to-read display. Another great feature of this clock is its adjustability, as not only can you freely change the brightness of the clock’s display, but you can also change the volume of the alarm itself. These features let you ensure that the clock is never any more disruptive than it needs to be, and prevent a bright display from keeping light sleepers up at night. The clock also has calendar and temperature display options and is overall a great pick at an affordable price.
