A Step By Step Guide To A Glam Makeup Look

Get your makeup products and brushes out! It is time to get glam. Here is a step by step guide to get the perfect glam makeup look, that works for so many different occasions.

Step #1: Prep With A Moisturizer

Please do not skip out on this step! Applying a moisturizer before your face makeup will help everything go on much smoother. It will hydrate your skin as well, so your skin will not look dry and cakey underneath the makeup.

#2: Go In With A Primer

If you want your makeup to last for hours, then you need a primer. Primers will help our foundation adhere better to the skin. You can find a wide array of primers on the market. Color correctors, hydrators, oil control, blurring primers, the list goes on. You can put primer on with your fingers.

#3: Apply Your Favorite Foundation

After your primer has been applied, it is time to go in with foundation. Use one that works well for your skin type, and has the coverage you prefer. My favorite way to apply foundation is with a beauty sponge. Pump or put some foundation on the back of your hand first, and then pick some up with your sponge to stipple onto your face.

Make sure you blend your foundation on your ears and down your neck so you do not have any harsh lines.

#4: Add Some Concealer

To apply concealer, we will start under our eyes. Pick a shade that is slightly lighter than the color of your foundation, to help lift and brighten. Apply a small amount under the eyes and blend out with the sponge. Take that same shade and place some in the middle of your forehead, down the bridge of the nose, and on the Cupid’s bow.

If you have any blemishes to cover up, opt for a concealer shade that is a perfect match to your foundation.

#5: Cream Bronzer, Blush, and Highlight

This next step will bring some life and dimension back to your face. Start off with the cream bronzer. Once again, break out the beauty sponge to apply. Pick up some product and stipple some under the cheekbones, sides of the forehead, and on the jawline.

For blush, place a small amount on the apples of your cheeks and blend it upwards towards your temples. You can even put some on the tip of your nose, if you want to.

For highlight, you will only need a tiny amount. Blend it out on the tops of your cheekbones, bridge of the nose, and Cupid’s bow.

#6: Lock It In With A Powder

Now, we have to lock everything into place. You can either use a translucent powder, or one that matches your foundation. Pressed or loose powder will do. If your skin is on the drier side, you can choose to only powder under your eyes and in your T-zone. If you have oiler skin or you prefer this way, powder all over your face.

If you want your makeup to last even longer, you can try baking. To bake, you let a decent amount of powder sit on a particular area of your face for a few minutes. Most people do under their eyes. After minutes pass, you can wipe and blend the powder away.

#7: Powder Bronzer, Blush, and Highlight

Sometimes, our cream products get washed away by our setting powder. Applying powder bronzer, blush, and highlight will help bring back the dimension and color. Put them in the same places where the cream products went.

#8: Take It One Step Further With A Setting Spray

This will lock your makeup into place even further. Spritz or spray a few inches away from your face, and then give it a minute to dry. You can find different setting sprays that provide different finishes to the skin. For example, matte or dewy.

#9: Eyeshadow Time!

My favorite part! A great go-to eyeshadow look when you want to get glam is doing a neutral toned eye. You will want to start off with a neutral brown shade, and use a fluffy blush to blend that out in your crease. Use that same shade underneath your eye on your lower lash line. Pick up a deeper brown and work that directly in your crease, and blend blend blend. Finally, take an even darker brown and put that in the outer V of your eye. For your lid shade, grab a lighter, sparkly shade. You can spray your brush with setting spray prior to picking it up to make it more pigmented. Pop some of that color into your inner corner as well.

#10: Winged Liner

Applying eyeliner can be super tricky, so pick out a type that works best for you. It may be a liquid, cream, pencil, etc. With a steady hand, start by placing a black line or your upper lash line. Then, follow the edge of your lower lash line and extend it out. Connect the two lines you have made and fill it in. You’ve got your wing!

#11: Pop On Some Mascara

If you want to put on falsies, go right ahead! Otherwise, a few coats of mascara will do just fine.

The Final Step! #12: We Cannot Forget The Lips

For your lips, you can go in with pretty much any shade you want. That is the best part about doing a neutral eye! My go-to would be either a nude lip or a red one.

Start off by lining your lips with a lip liner. You can fill it in with the liner if you want, but it is not necessary. Pop on your matching lipstick over top. You can stop there if you want a matte lip, or apply a lip gloss.
