5 Signs Your Boyfriend is Your Bestie

1. They Know All Your Secrets

When you get into a relationship, you tend to share a lot with your boyfriend. Overtime, they begin to learn your true secrets. Even the most embarrassing ones like about the time you stood outside Starbucks for an hour because you thought Justin Timberlake was in there and he never came out. That one he might tease you about later. Having a boyfriend is like having a built-in best friend. They are literally forced to listen to you talk and they never mind it. If you’re someone that is going to school with your bf, you have a great advantage. Going to college with your bf makes it super convenient to hang out and share things with them. I consider it the step before a serious move in.  You spend so much time in their room, you start to learn his roommate’s secrets as well. That’s something to keep in mind when being around each other, you’re pretty much a package deal now. Everything that they know, you now know and that can be powerful information.

Your boyfriend should definitely be the person you trust with most of your secrets, but you shouldn’t feel like you need to tell them everything. You can be in a healthy relationship and have your own privacy on certain things. Same goes for them. If you’re the type to be more on the reserved side, let your partner know. You don’t want your communication to suffer because of your need to keep things on the down low.

2. They Can Read Your Mind

Okay maybe not read your mind exactly, but half the time they can probably guess what you are thinking. If you’ve been with your boyfriend for a while now, chances are they know you really well. Well enough to know your mood, state of mind, or when you’re hungry. I’ve seen couples with a single facial expression exchange looks that the other caught onto in a sec. It’s nice having that in a relationship. Non-verbal are especially important in times when you don’t feel your best. Ladies, I’m sure we can all relate to a time in our relationship where we were just sad with or without reason and we just wanted them to get it. To catch on to there being something wrong and do cute things to make us feel better.

Let’s not leave the guys out. As boyfriends, they do so much for us. They deserve some hugs and kissed too when feeling sad. We need to start normalizing giving guys special treatment on days they feel low. So often we see girls talk about their feelings and problems they face. Guys tend to hold theirs in. We need to make a change in the relationship structure and apply ourselves more in reading guy minds. Try appealing more to their needs and see how much closer you grow.

3. They Watch Your Movies

Truth is out ladies, they don’t really want to watch The Notebook every movie night. They do it because they love you—-aweeeee! Guys will do close to anything to make you smile and keep you happy. The good ones at least. So two hours of their lives is nothing to them compared to everything you do for them. Girls, we tend to want to re-enact the scenes we see in movies. We want a guy that will stand outside our window holding a boombox or leave a championship football game just to stand in the rain with you. We live off the magic movies bring out.

As much as we love movies, we have to cut them some slack. Not everyone’s bf will be as perfect as the ones on screen and that’s okay. We love them just the same and that’s what we should be focusing on. Let’s continue to love our bestie bf’s for their flaws, mistakes, foots in mouths.

4. They Go Shopping With You

Those that shop together, stay together. Just like a bestie, your boyfriend will trance after you in shopping malls just to say you look beautiful in everything.  They’ll probably moan and groan the whole way, but you love having them there. Try out some fun activities to make the time go by for them. Something like, wear what your partner picks for you. You’ll have a time limit and you’ll have to pick out an outfit for the other to wear. This is a great way to bond and see how well your partner knows your style. You could make it into a bet. The person with the best looking outfit wins. Loser has to buy dinner. It’s fun, interactive, and it’ll make him forgive his complaining.

You could also try one and one. You don’t want your partner feeling left out, so agree to go to one store you like and one store he likes. It’ll bring them joy to see you trying to appeal to them. Most importantly, have fun together. Between school and work, you don’t get this time out together too often. Turn it into shopping for glee instead of shopping to flee.

5. They Take Care Of You

Last but certainly not least, your boyfriend takes care of you. As they should, they’re with you for a reason. They love taking care of that cute, silly, sometimes grumpy, fun personality of yours. They are your best friend because you see and feel them putting your feelings on a pedestal. They may tease and laugh at you, but your feelings matter to them and they wouldn’t do anything to hurt you. The true test of knowing how they care for you is spending a sick day with them. Some people tend to spring into action the moment they sense a cold. Others may panic seeing you thrown across the couch. Remember to relax and assess. Teas and medicine are good. Do your research and see what foods may help. At the end of the day, they’ll just want you to be there with them. Everything else is just an added bonus.
