6 Great Ways To Have Fun On A Rainy Day

The weather has been pretty gloomy recently. I know everyone is hoping that it will turn around so that we can all enjoy a summer in the sun and sand, but even if it doesn’t, here are some ways you can still enjoy a rainy day!

1. Get out there anyway!

A little rain never hurt anybody. Obviously if it’s a thunderstorm or if it’s raining so hard it would impair your vision or cause problems, don’t risk it. But on those days there’s a light rainstorm, you can still enjoy many of the outdoor activities you normally do. You can hike, play sports, I’ve even gone camping in the rain. Don’t let a little drizzle get in your way.

2. Shop!

I’m always looking for an excuse to go shopping, and when rain gives me a great reason to go. It’s an indoor activity, and there’s something for everyone. You can shop for clothes, art, antiques, electronics, whatever you want. Hit up the strip mall or go to the thrift shop.  It’s an easy way to spend three or four hours and not even realize that you’re doing it. You can even online shop if you don’t want to go out in the rain.

3. Watch a movie!

You can either go to the theater or just cozy up at home and watch an old favorite. Watch as many as you want in a row. Have your friends over for a movie marathon of your favorite series or favorite genre. It’s a great way to pass the time while you’re waiting for the next batch of sunshine, and it can be a fun social activity.

4. Bowling!

I know at least in my town bowling was the big thing to do way back in middle school and then it was suddenly uncool. But I actually like to go bowling, even now. Get a big group of people together and take over a couple of lanes of your local alley. It’s a good way to get together with people and actually do an activity instead of just party or hang out at someone’s house. And, it’s indoors, so you can have fun even if it’s raining!

5. Read a book!

I know many people don’t see reading as fun. But if you can find a good book to read, soon you’ll get caught up, and realize that half of the day has gone by. There’s really nothing better to do on a rainy day than find a comfy spot on the couch and lose yourself in a book.

6. Find a craft!

I’m not a very artsy kind of person, but I still enjoy doing a craft every once in a while. Think of some of the DIY projects that you’ve seen on Pinterest and have been wanting to try. A rainy day is the perfect time to do it, because there isn’t much else to do. So even if you pick one that is complicated or takes a long time, you’ll have all the time you need to finish it.

Well these are just a few things to keep you occupied on a rainy summer day. Be creative! Just don’t let some water get in the way of you enjoying your summer break.
