This recipe is a classic that is a must try for any hot drink lover.

1. Christmas Coca

This wouldn’t be a hot drink list without this timeless classic. Cozying up by the fire with this sweet treat is a magical moment unlike any other. When you’re looking out for a drink that fills you with warmth this season, Christmas hot cocoa is a must try.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup sugar
  • ⅓ cup water
  • ¼ cup baking cocoa
  • 1 small pinch cinnamon
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • 4 cups of milk
  • ¾ marshmallow creme

Directions

In a small saucepan, heat up your sugar, water, cocoa, cinnamon and nutmeg over low heat. Make sure you are stirring this constantly until it is mixed smooth. Bring to a rolling boil then reduce to a simmer for 4 minutes. Next, stir in your milk and add your cocoa into mugs. Top each with some marshmallow cream and other Christmas decorations. Serve and enjoy.

This recipe is great for when you’re looking for something a little more subtle out of your hot drinks.

2. Humboldt Fog Tea

This recipe is perfect for those who are looking for something that is soft and warm but isn’t overpoweringly sweet like the hot cocoa. Humboldt fog tea, also known as London fog tea, has the soft subtle aromatics of early gray tea coupled with a light creamy texture. If you’re looking for something a little less sweet this winter, try this recipe out.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup strongly brewed earl grey tea. ( Note, you can brew it with ½ tsp dried lavender for those extra aromatics)
  • ½ cup steamed milk
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract

Directions

Begin by brewing your earl grey tea and lavender together. Let it steep for 3 minutes. Remove the tea bag and strain the lavender out. Stir in your steamed milk, vanilla extract and sugar. Serve and enjoy.

This recipe is great for adding that special sense of warmth to your life.

3. Matcha Green Tea Latte

This sweet green friend is perfect for impressing your guests with a healthy and sweet treat. Matcha green tea lattes are sweet but are not packing that heavy sugar or calorie count that the traditional hot cocoa does. I personally love this drink for when I need to focus or I’m simply enjoying looking out the window by a fire. If you want a sweet drink to contemplate over, this recipe is a must try.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp matcha green tea powder
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 3 tsp warm water
  • 300 ml hot milk

Directions

Begin by spooning your match green tea powder and the sugar into a mug. Add in your warm water and with a spoon, gently stir until it is smooth and dark. You want to make sure there are no dark green lumps here! The matcha powder is very concentrated and you don’t want a lumpy blast of green tea. Warm your milk in a small saucepan on low. Once it begins streaming, remove from the heat and gently pour into your milk. Be sure not splash yourself on this step! Use a whisk to lightly combine your paste and milk together. This should bring your dark green color up to a beautiful light green. Serve and enjoy.

This recipe is bright and refreshing for any fire time.

4. Hibiscus and Passion Fruit Tea

If you’re looking for a bright pink sweet drink that turns heads, this drink is perfect for you. The sweet aromatics of the hibiscus and bright taste of the passion fruit make for a perfect refresher when you’re cozying up by the fire making memories this winter. Here is how to get started.

This drink is for all those eggnog lovers out there. Next in a separate bowl, add your egg whites and remaining sugar. Beat until there are peaks forming. Set to the side. In a small saucepan over medium low heat, add your milk, vanilla and nutmeg.
