Are you trying to lose weight but exercise and eating well simply isn’t cutting it? It might be bloating! Bloating is a natural occurrence in bodies. Belly bloat is a rather annoying and troublesome way of our bodies telling us that something is wrong. Whether it be we are eating too much salt or we need to drink more water. It’s our body’s way of telling us to pay attention! So how do we pay attention to our bodies when we bloat? By ingesting  some great foods to get us back on track! Don’t know where to start? Yogurt is a great way to keep your digestive tract in balance.

1. Yogurt

This probiotic powerhouse is a great way to reduce bloat when your stomach needs an extra push. Yogurt is packed with probiotics that help your digestive system pass tough food and reduce bloat. In addition, it lines your intestines and stomach with enzymes that help your digestive tract break down tough food. Yogurt is relatively cheap and can be paired with various other superfoods like honey and fruit. All yogurt, regardless of what brand, has probiotic properties that will keep your digestive tract on track. The probiotics of yogurt line your intestines as you ingest food, allowing for food particles to be broken down and processed faster. If you’re looking for a fast and easy way to reduce bloat and increase the rate of your metabolism, yogurt is a must try!

2. Cucumbers

Cucumbers are great for any healthy snack when you’re reducing bloat. Most bloat comes from lack of water and your body expanding. It can be a result of various components including a lack of water, increased salt content in your system or food intolerances. Cucumbers are a great way to put your body back in balance. Cucumbers are full of great taste and water that will help hydrate you. Cucumbers will help put your chemical balance back on track in a few easy steps. Cucumbers are great with salad and even some pastas. And for an extra refresher, try putting some cucumber slices in your water to make it more interesting! I personally love to  make pasta with diced cucumbers, minced garlic, black olives and reduced cherry tomatoes. Lightly toss it all in some olive oil and you’re left with a beautiful pasta. Whether you prefer your cucumbers in a salad with a solid crunch or in a decadent pasta, this super food is great for reducing belly bloat.

Berries are full of antioxidants to fight any belly bloat.

3. Berries

Berries are full of antioxidant power and water. They are full of vital vitamins that help keep our bodies balanced. In addition, they carry important minerals that ensure a happy body and a healthy mind. Some berries, including blueberries, carry amounts of fiber that help aid in digestion when passing tough foods. They are mini power  houses and great digestive cleansers for any belly bloating. Don’t like certain  berries? No problem! There are numerous to choose from that all carry similar powerhouse components. Berries are great for pairing with lunch time or snack items. I personally love putting my berries in salad. A salad with some romaine lettuce, strawberries, cherry tomatoes, red onion and strawberry vinaigrette do the trick for me when reducing any belly bloat. If you’re not a huge fan of salads, there is a berry solution for you! Making a homemade berry snack is not only healthy but delicious. Adding berries to your snacking regiment with some vanilla yogurt, honey, granola and blueberries, is a great healthy alternative to reducing that stubborn bloat.

This snack is great for helping get rid of unwanted fats in your system.

4. Asparagus

Asparagus is a great source of fiber. It helps as a kidney cleanser for any tough bloating. Bloating can also occur when our bodies are holding onto unwanted salts or chemicals that have been picked up from processed foods we have ingested. Certain fats for instance, are much harder for our bodies to break down than others. Asparagus is great for helping our body scrub out some of those unwanted chemicals in our system. It can act as a rough scrubber within our intestines as we ingest it, allowing those unwanted chemicals we have been hanging onto to pass through our digestive systems with ease.  I personally prefer to bake my asparagus with some minced garlic, lemon and tossed in olive oil. You can bake it at 375F for 40 minutes and viola! You have a healthy crispy digestive cleanser.
