5 Bands Your Should Check Out

5 Bands You Should Check Out

  1. Hands Like Houses

  • A band based out of Australia, Hands Like Houses is a small indie, rock band. They currently have four albums and 1 EP with a few extra singles and covers. The band has a very diverse range and tend to make every new album sound different from the last. Their first album Ground Dweller is very rock based. They have some great songs with some very unique names. My personal favorite from their first album is the song “Don’t Look Now, I’m Being Followed. Act Normal.” An odd name for a song, but it has a very catchy beat and lyrics. Their most popular album is Unimagine. This is where the band began to break out and experiment with different genres. They still have a rock-based sound but with softer vocals and more time for each individual member to show off their skills. Hands Like Houses is a great song for anyone who is into indie, rock and for those who want to try some new and experimental songs. My favorite song of theirs is from the album Anon. and is titled “Through Glass”. It’s a very slow song that has a different vibe than the other songs in the album. Fans are eagerly awaiting the announcement of a new album soon.

  1. Surfaces

  • Everyone has heard this band’s iconic song “Sunday Best” at least a hundred times before. It has such a possible message and just a great vibe to get you up and going. What a lot of people haven’t heard of is the band’s earlier music. Their Surf album has great songs such as “Be Alright”, “24/7/365”, and “Loving”. All of their songs have such a nice beat to it. They are a perfect band to put on when you just want to relax or have some work to get done. “Horizons” is my personal favorite song from the band and it’s a song that not many people know about. Surfaces has such a unique and classic sound that reminds you of music from the 70’s and 80’s. They have songs that are perfect for any occasion such as for get together’s, work playlists, and playlists for a long car ride. The band has also recently done a collaboration with veteran artist Elton John during the pandemic. It’s safe to say that this is one of the newest bands that is slowly and quietly making their way into the big leagues.

  1. Arctic Monkeys

  • Everyone has seen that Bacardi commercial at least once in their lives even if they didn’t realize it. That commercial was all over television in the early 2000s and it carried one of the most iconic songs of the year. Arctic Monkeys is a band that has so many great hits and albums. Kicking off in 2006, the band kicked off with their album titled Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not. The album was received very well and hooked a lot of people. Then a year later came Favourite Worst Nightmare. With songs such as “505”, “D is for Dangerous”, and “Fluorescent Adolescent”, this album became a big hit for the band. Their most popular work came from the 2013 album titled AM. Carrying some of the most popular songs to come out from this band such as “Do I Wanna Know?”, “I Wanna Be Yours”, and “Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?” The band is currently on tour this year and has teased that a new album will be coming out at some point this year. Being four years since their last album drop, fans are really looking forward to listening to what they have been working on for the last few years. They have become one of the best modern rock bands to date.

  1. Wallows

  • Who hasn’t heard of the Wallows before? If you haven’t given their music a shot, this is your sign to add them to your bands to checkout list. Wallows is one of the smaller bands that kicked off in 2017. Riding the wave of his popularity from starring in 2017’s 12 Reasons Why, Dylan Minnette is the lead of this band. Wallows has such a refreshing and relaxed vibe with them that carries into their music. Songs such as “Remember When”, “These Days”, “Scrawny”, “What You Like”, and “Especially You” are great songs for just relaxing and to simply enjoy. Their most popular song comes from a collaboration with the artist Clairo and is titled “Are You Bored Yet?” This is probably the song you have heard on the radio a million times and rightfully so. It’s such an upbeat and fun song. I think fun would be the best word to use to describe this band. They just have a fun presence, and you can tell that they enjoy making these songs and sharing them with their fans. With their latest album just being released earlier this year, the band has no intention of slowing down anytime soon.

  1. BROCKHAMPTON

  • This is one of the bands that broke up earlier this year as each member wanted to pursue their individual careers. However, the fanbase that they produced while they were together is large. Not only is this band filled with a diverse and fun crew, but they also all have unique styles that come together to form some of the most iconic songs of the decade. Songs like “FACE” and “SUGAR” have dominated the charts. Each member truly gets to shine in each song as they make sure to know what each one’s strengths and weaknesses are. If you are fan of Dominic Fike, then you will definitely want to check out this ban. They played a major role in the beginning of Fike’s career and even starred in his first music video. One of the greatest songs to come from BROCKHAMPTON can only be found on their YouTube channel and is titled “LAMB”. It’s a beautiful song with such a heartwarming message and beat that is bittersweet considering the band is no longer together. No matter your taste in music, you will surely find a little something for you through one of their songs.
