Music is an art that speaks volumes to people around the world. Music can transcend languages and speak multitudes to people around the world. Romance, sex, heartache, and more can be brought to life in the form of music, whether it is for musicals or comes from one of the many brilliant albums produced each year.  Here are 20 songs that give us all the feels each time we hear them! 

1.  All My Life – Kci & Jojo 

All My Life is a song that touches many people who have ever been deeply in love. We often wish for someone to utter the words that they sing.

In this song, the men declare their feelings of true love for their significant other and their desire for their lover to feel the same emotions back. They compare the closeness to their lover as a family member and claim to never fall in love with a random person as they cherish their lover too much. The song is simple but speaks to so many people since it hit the airwaves in 1997—a treasured and beloved piece by so many to this day.

2.  Iris by Goo Goo Dolls

Iris is clearly a love song with yearning and desire to be seen more clearly by the object of their affection. It is a story and song that many of us are familiar with. We fall for a person that may not recognize us or only know us from afar. Imagine longing for someone you cannot have for one reason or another and would give up anything to be with them. This song was crafted for the film City of Angels, whose synopsis was just this. An angel falls in love with a woman and is willing to give up being immortal to be with her. The Lyrics clearly show the song is from the perspective of the angel in the film,

The song depicts a yearning to be with the one you want the most and how they’d give up everything to be with them because they are the most incredible thing they’ve ever known. Who would not want those words uttered to them by someone else? A great love song that is still well received to this day. Aside from the romance, if we look into the lyrics, we can see the main character depicted is a lonely man who doesn’t want to be shown to the world because he believes they would never understand him. The concept of not being understood or an outcast is quite universal and gives us all the world’s feelings.

3. Anyone by Justin Beiber

This song was released in 2020 and is one of several songs Beiber put into the world during the pandemic. This song speaks volumes to so many as we are going through uncertain times.  A song about love and always loved that one particular person so much so that there will never be another like them. The lyrics,

“You say that I won’t lose you,

but you can’t predict the future,”

resonates with so many today. We cannot see what the future holds, when life will end, or if a person wishes to move on. Some things are not in our control, but what we say and give to others we have full control over. Beiber continues to tell his love that she needs to know that she is the only one for him, the only one he will ever love, and if he cannot have her, he wants nobody else.  A declaration of true love, desire, and commitment to the person they want to be with for the rest of their lives.

4. At My Worst by Pink Sweat$ Feat Kehlani

At My Worst is a song about loving another person for all they are flaws and all. The song declares there may be times when others like to lie and spread hate, which could be because of jealousy or other reasons. Trust and loving someone for who they are, whether they have good moments or bad, shows the person accepts nobody is perfect, but love is worth the fight. You cannot expect someone to be at their best at all times as we are human beings. However, if you can learn to love someone despite their flaws, then you have the potential for a long-standing and rewarding relationship.

This is a plea and yearning most of us have. Acceptance despite our flaws and knowing we have worth speaks volumes. 

5. Ok Not To Be Ok by Marshmello and Demi Lovato

This song was released in 2020 and serves as almost an anthem for the year. When we have to isolate ourselves from others and struggle with day-to-day living and changes, this song rocks us to our core and tells us it’s ok to not be ok. The lyrics,

It is nearly the anthem for 2020 and rolling right into 2021. In fact, our mental states are being attacked because of the seclusion and feeling like our dreams and goals are put on hold, won’t happen, or forever out of reach. Mental health is such an important issue, and when we take social creatures and distance them from each other, cut off what we love, and have a hard time finding a sense of normalcy, we find ourselves lonely and feeling helpless. Marshmello and Demi tell the world it is okay to not be okay because we are humans. 

6. Anyone by Demi Lovato

Released in 2020, this song hits home hard. What a rough year it was for so many, and Demi’s song came just at a time when we all found ourselves pleading for a similar desire. Demi’s song talks about being sent to anyone who will understand what she is going through, someone who will stand by her through hardships and regardless of her flaws. Demi sings,

The feeling that we are reaching out to others without them truly understanding our hearing our pleas is a frightening but genuine emotion and experience many of us have had. Demi expresses how she has tried many things to console her; to help her emotions, and in the end, she just wants someone to truly listen, anyone at all. Anyone is a song that touches so many of us because of its rawness and unapologetic honesty of emotions.

This song is a love song declaring that the time spent with his beloved is more important than anything in the world. Rhett sings that he could literally die a happy man, even if that means he wouldn’t be able to do things on his bucket list or desired once upon a time. The list means nothing to him if he cannot have the love of his life, and regardless of how he spends his time with her, he is quite content to just be in her presence until he dies. Who would not want someone to declare that you are what makes them most happy and satisfied? Of course, we may never be able to reach all our goals or see all the sights in the world that we want to before our time comes to an end, but spending time with those we love and cherish most outweighs it all.  If our lovers uttered Rhett’s words,

The notion of never wanting to be away from the one you love, being as close as you can, and spending your every moment with them is typically how we feel when we are in love. Swift also throws in how they write the rules for their lives, and it is not based on anyone else’s expectations and personal bias. Which is a great model for all relationships. If you let others control things, your relationship is no longer yours. Taylors song goes as far as to include vows as if she knows for sure she will marry this person she clearly adores. While addressing, she knows she isn’t perfect; she loves this person for accepting her for who she is and how amazing of a force they are in her life. If that does not give you all the feels, I don’t know what will! True love is messy, exciting, and a roller coaster ride of emotions.

In this song, Selena writes about how she had to do what was best for herself to be the best her. Often, we tend to lose who we are in relationships. Sometimes we give ourselves so much to others that we are no longer who we used to be, or we become a version of ourselves we do not recognize or don’t love. However, there is also another idea behind losing someone to love yourself. Sometimes we have to let go of someone else to grow, learn, and love who we are. When we let go of someone else, it may be a form of forgiveness so that we can move on to bigger and better things for our body, mind, and soul. Selena sings,

it clearly is a call to action for herself and maybe even others who feel this way. This song has us feeling all the feels especially when we realize how change for ourselves can be a good thing. It may hurt to lose someone, but we gain ourselves in the end!

The song Perfect is just that, perfect. The depiction of young love, hope, and a future truly resonates with the world. Sheeran explains that he has a lover that he hopes to share a family with in the future; he may be young, but he values and sees what he has and does not want to lose it. He explains he will fight for what he loves, and he is so happy to have a strong woman to share his dreams, secrets, and future with, and no matter what she thinks, he will always think she is perfect for him regardless of their aging and changing bodies, the love withstands time. The song Rare is another great production from Selena Gomez declaring her self worth. Just Lose You To Love Me, Selena is telling her lover that she is amazing, she may not be perfect, but she knows her worth. She explains that someone else would recognize how rare she is and not like everyone else. Gomez sings,

This is not a new concept; many women feel as if they are taken for granted, their lover lost interest, or maybe they are not enough. However, Selena is saying no to those feelings and saying you need to recognize how rare and wonderful she is, and if this person cannot do that, she can find someone elsewhere who will treat her like she is worth it.  The song is empowering as it pushes women to realize they are rare and beautiful, and it is the loss of the other person who does not recognize it.

13. Know Your Worth by Khalid

Khalid has created many great songs over the past couple of years; this one shows the importance of self-worth, including women’s self-worth. Khalid explains in his music that this woman may be used to not being treated well, that she believes she is not worth much or settles for someone that does not see what she is worth. Khalid sings,

Say it’s not real if it doesn’t hurt
Find someone you know will put you first
Find someone who loves you at your worst.”

Khalid urgest the woman/listener to keep their head up and find someone who knows their worth and find a person who loves you even when you are at your worst. It is a nod to the saying if you can’t handle my worst, you will not get my best. Everyone is not perfect, everyone has flaws, but if someone cannot accept you for who you are, imperfection and all, they are not the one for you. They don’t love you.

Kesha’s song praying may resonate with many people for various reasons. Some may find the meaning or overall concept varied based on their own emotions, but that is great about this song. The overall tone that someone has done you wrong, hurt you to your core, but you choose to pray for them and be the better person while living your life is one of the biggest life lessons we can learn. We hurt, of course, but we also have to remember that if we hold on to the things that hurt people who have hurt us or us, we are not helping ourselves.

The feelings that come from feeling empowered by love fear to take over, but the excitement and thrill of loving another completely is a beautiful and unique experience. Pink talks about wanting something so badly to prove your worth, longing for real love, wanting another person to complete you. She sings,

We definitely heard this song, and it instantly stirred the pot of emotions, and we all thought of a moment or person that is dear to us.
