10 Tips To Grow Your Hair Fast

When you are in the process of growing your hair, it can seem like an entire lifetime has passed before noticing any changes. Growing and maintaining long hair requires a lot of effort. It is gonna take some time, and results will not happen overnight! Typically, hair grows a quarter of an inch to half an inch every month. To ensure your hair is growing to its best ability, follow the ten tips listed below.

1. Do Not Wash Your Hair Everyday

This tip varies by hair type, but washing your hair every day can strip your hair of its natural oils. This can result in dry and brittle hair. Try washing your hair every other day, and if you can go longer that is even better!

Dry shampoo will be your best friend, so invest in a good one that works for your hair type and color. Also, ponytails, buns, and hats will help you out a ton!

2. Get Regular Trims

This may seem counterintuitive, but this is a vital step in your hair growth journey. If you do not trim off the split ends, they will eventually split up your hair, resulting in breakage. This means your hair will become even shorter! Cutting around half an inch every three to four months is the perfect amount.

3. Try The Inversion Method

The inversion method is meant to stimulate your hair follicles. To do this, you will need any type of hair oil. Coconut oil, argan oil, Moroccan oil, castor oil, jojoba oil, or any other oil you have on hand. Either lay on a bed with your head hanging over the side, or sit in a chair and bend forward so your head is hanging down. Massage your scalp with your oil for around three to five minutes, and you are done!

It is recommended to do the inversion method every day for a week, every few months. The only downside to this method is that your hair may look a tad greasy. But hey, the long luscious hair will be worth it.

4. Change Out Your Products

The shampoo and conditioner you are using may be a part of the reason why your hair is not growing to its fullest potential. Opt for products that are suited for your hair type.  A brand I highly recommend for hair products is Shea Moisture.

5. Eat More Protein

Eating a well-balanced and nutritious diet can aid in hair growth. Hair is made up of several different proteins, so eating foods that are high in protein can improve your hair’s growth rate. The following are some great protein-rich food options: eggs, leafy greens, salmon, red meat, nuts, and beans.

6. Use a Wide Tooth Comb

When growing out your hair, it is important that we take all of the necessary steps to maintain strong hair. One of the ways we can do this is by combing our hair with a wide-tooth comb instead of a regular hairbrush. A hairbrush can rip and pull your hair, and a comb will carefully loosen out the knots.

When you comb, start at the bottom of your hair first, and then work your way up your head. If you start at the top by your roots, it is more likely that you will break pieces of your hair.

7. No Heat

Trust me, I know this one is difficult. I love straightening and curling my hair, but I would much rather have healthy hair than damaged hair, so I do not use much heat anymore. There are a ton of tips and tricks online for getting straight or curly hair without heat, too!

When you do decide to use a heat tool, make sure you are putting heat protection on your hair first.

8. Use Hair Masks

Hair masks can help hydrate and nourish your hair, so if your hair has any damage, I definitely recommend using hair masks. I typically do one about once a week!

There are a lot of different hair masks on the market, you can find some that you apply in the shower, some that go on before shampooing, and some you can even make at home!

I personally love to do coconut oil hair masks. Buy pure coconut oil from your local grocery store, warm it up in your hands, and then apply from scalp to tips. Leave it on for a few hours or overnight, and then shampoo and condition like normal.

9. Check Out Olaplex

Olaplex is a brand of hair care products that work to rebuild, strengthen, and smooth your hair. It is a nine-part system, two being in-salon treatments and seven being products you can purchase to use at home.

One of their most well-known and popular items is the No. 3 hair mask, which hairstylists and celebrities rave about. If your hair has a lot of damage, or you get your hair bleached frequently, Olaplex is definitely worth checking out.

10. Use Rice Water

Using rice water dates back to centuries ago in Asian culture, but in recent years, the treatment became popular on social media. It is said to strengthen hair, make it shinier, and help it grow.

To make this, you will need one cup of rice and one cup of water. Start off by rinsing your rice, and then mix the rice and cup of water in a bowl. Let this mixture soak and ferment for 24 hours, and then strain the rice water. Keep the rice water in a spray bottle or jar.

To use it, apply the rice water to your hair after your shampoo. Massage it in, and let it sit for a few minutes. The rice water will not have the most pleasant smell, but you can always add a drop or two of essential oils to help with that.
