10 Easy Heatless Hairstyles for College

Put down the straightner, I repeat put down the straightener. These quick heatless hairstyles will have you ready for class in minutes and have you looking your best.

Half up-half down

One of my favorite ways to change up my hairstyle is pulling half of it up in a ponytail. You can use a ribbon, a scrunchie, a hairclip, whatever you want to add to the look. It is easy to divide your hair using a comb or hairbrush. You can also use gel or hairspray to help keep the hair in place. It is the perfect hairstyle for if you are running errands or going to a nice dinner. This hairstyle can give a more girly or sporty look depending on the clothes you pick.

French Braids

French braids are a timeless hairstyle that looks amazing on anyone. It keeps your hair out of your face and is great if you are going to the gym or have a long day of classes. If you can’t french braid, you can also grab smaller sections of hair at the top of your hair and twist them, until you get to the bottom of the hair and braid it regularly. You can add clips or flowers to add some extra flare to the braids. This hairstyle looks like you spent hours on your hair, when you only spent a few minutes.

Messy Bun

A messy bun is a college girl necessity. This is a hairstyle you can do on the days you need to wash your hair or are running late to class. You can experiment in different methods of putting it into a bun and can pull out some strands to add to the messy effect. You can pair this hairstyle with sweatpants and sneakers, or can dress it up with a sweater and some jeans. This hairstyle is ideal for any occasion and can be done on freshly washed or days old hair.

High Ponytail

Who doesn’t love a ponytail? A high ponytail looks professional and sheek. You can use some hairspray to brush back the top of your hair and wrap your hair around the hair elastic if you want a celebrity touch. Ponytails are fast to do and are great to wear to class, you just have to brush your hair upside down to get it high on your head. This is a hairstyle you know will always come out the same and never fail.

Bubble Braids

You have probably seen bubble braids all over TikTok. Creating them is simpler than you think. Grab some clear elastics and space them out throughout your hair and tug the section. You can create one large one, two medium ones or two smaller ones in the front of your hair depending on the look you are going for. It is a playful and creative way to change up your hair. It will spice up your photos and your friends will be asking how you did it.

Slicked Back Hair

The slicked back hair look has been seen on runways all the time. It is actually way easier to achieve than you think, grab some gel, mousse, hairspray, whatever you have in your bathroom and start applying it on damp hair. Keep it on the top of your head, you can keep your hair down or tie it up. This look is great to do if you are dressing up and want a way to elevate your hairstyle with no heat. You can do this hairstyle no matter what state your hair is currently in.

Baby Braids

Baby braids are trendy and frame your face beautifully. They take about 2 seconds to do and can be tied off with a clear elastic or hair tie. They add to a look with minimal effort. You can do two in front of your face or you can do them randomly throughout your hair. It can be more of a casual or fancy look depending on the outfit. This hairstyle can be done with any hair length or type. If you haven’t tried this hairstyle, grab a brush right now.

Loose Waves

The night before class, put your wet hair into braids. When you wake up in the morning, shake your hair out and reveal the gorgeous waves. If you want tighter waves create more braids, and if you want looser waves only do one or two braids. There is no need for a curling iron. If you want extra hold, spray the waves with some hairspray and you are ready to go. This is a guaranteed way to know your hair is going to look good the next day. If I know I have somewhere I want to look nice for the next day, I will do this trick and it will look beautiful all day.

Space Buns

If you are bold, time for the space buns. Space buns are great to level up an outfit and add some fun to your hairstyles. You can also do smaller buns with part of your hair if you prefer that instead. You can add some braids or clips if you want to add more to it, and glitter if you are going out to a party or concert. You can do a more tight ballerina bun style or you can create more of a casual laid back look by loosening up the hair and pulling out strands.

Claw Clips

Claw clips come in so many colors and sizes, and are not expensive to purchase. It gives you that clean girl aesthetic you see all over your TikTok feed. Pair it with some small sunglasses and a sweater and you are ready to go. This hairstyle is what you need when you are running to classes and studying in the library. It keeps your hair neat and tied back while still having some style and uniqueness to it. You can also do it with parts of your hair instead of all of it.
