10 Best Opposites Attract TV Couples

Opposties attract, right? Right! Sometimes, the best couples are nothing alike, and it’s their differences that actually bring them together. Especially in fictional settings, the “opposites attract” trope can lead to some juicy drama! If you’re looking for a good TV show to binge during the pandemic AND want to believe in love again, read on to find out the best opposites attract TV couples whose love stood the test of time!

1. Elena & Damon from “The Vampire Diaries”

Damon Salvatore and Elena Gilbert are the classic good girl meets bad boy trope! At the beginning of the show, Elena is with the “good” Salvatore vampire brother, Stefan. But after a couple seasons of will-they won’t-they steamy tension, Elena and Damon finally get together! Damon will literally do anything to protect Elena, and Elena brings out the best in Damon. Honestly, I don’t care how sweet Stefan is, once you see Damon for the first time, there’s no going back! Elena, you made the right choice!

2. April & Andy from “Parks and Recreation”

After you watch episode one of Parks and Rec, it never crosses your mind to pair off Andy and April. April is dark and emo, while Andy is a goofy teddy bear you just want to hug! But once the two get together, not only do they work, but they are inseparable! Andy and April go on to be one of the most stable couples in the whole show, proving time after time how much they love and support each other!

3. Jane & Rafael from “Jane the Virgin”

Ok, yes I was #TeamMichael, but I can’t deny how smokin’ Jane’s baby-daddy was! Literally coming from two different worlds, Jane is an over-achiever who puts her family first, while Rafael is a playboy with major family issues. Despite their extreme differences, Jane and Rafael bring out the best in each other. Oh, and they have a baby together because Jane is artificially inseminated with Rafael’s only sperm sample. So, yeah.

Jane helps Rafael settle down and create the family he never had, and Rafael supports all of Jane’s dreams, even telling her to “be brave” and become a writer. At the end of the day, Rafael makes Jane happy, and we all just want what’s best for Jane!

4. Barney & Robin from “How I Met Your Mother”

There are very few couples out there who not only pull off a romantic relationship, but also are hilarious partners in crime… And Barney and Robin did just that! Robin found someone who accepted her for who she was, and Barney finally found a woman who could challenge him! Although they might not have looked like a match at first, once they got together, their humor and chemistry were undeniable. They brought out the fun side in each other, and every episode with these two was exciting!

5. Penny & Leonard from “The Big Bang Theory”

In the first episode, Leonard says, “Our babies will be smart and beautiful!” Although Leonard is a nerd and Penny is way out of his league, the two actually complement each other very well. Leonard adds sense and stability to Penny’s life, while Penny brings Leonard out of his shell. Penny even tells Leonard at one point that he ruined all other men for her, becasue the men she usually dates are “stupid.” I bet their babies really are smart and beautiful!

6. Piper & Alex from “Orange Is the New Black”

How someone as plain as Piper ended up with Alex is a mystery. Nonetheless, these two make a cute couple, despite their differences. Alex brings out Piper’s wild side, and Piper helps ground Alex. Even though they seemed toxic for each other at first (you know, with the whole drug scene), Piper and Alex matured over the years and created a stable relationship. Yes, you were not the only one crying when they got married! Even though Alex is still in prison, long-distance has nothing on them!

7. Dwight & Angela from “The Office”

“I just want to be friends. Plus a little extra. Also, I love you.” Known as the biggest pain in the asses on The Office, Dwight and Angela seem like an unlikely pair, mainly because they both have problems with everyone! Heck, even Jim is caught off guard when he finds out the two had a secret love affair for years! But after 9 seasons of drama, including the death of the beloved Sprinkles, Dwight and Anglea finally tie the knot!

8. Monica & Chandler from “Friends”

I know everyone loves Ross and Rachel, but Monica and Chandler were just as cute, and an unlikly pair! While Monica might be too mature or too serious sometimes, she has Chandler to balance her out with his humor! What’s best about this relationship, is that they were freinds first, so they had a great foundation to build their relationship on!

9. Betty & Jughead from “Riverdale”

Betty and Jughead come from completely different sides of the track. Betty is your classic girl next door, while Jughead lives in a trailer park and belongs to a gang. Nevertheless, these two fell in love while doing what they do best… Sleuthing! With the time change the show recently made, Jughead and Betty are not currently together. But we will always have hope! #Bughead for life!

10. Jack & Rebecca from “This Is Us”

Jack has ruined all other men for me! Jack and Rebecca have one of the most tragic yet epic love stories of all time. Coming from a well-to-do family, Rebecca is drawn to Jack after meeting him at a bar. Although Jack only has a couple dollars in his pocket, he promises Rebecca the world, and the rest is history.!Oh Jack, why did you have to run back into that fire!?!
