10 Beach Essentials

Going to the beach is one of the bests parts about summer. But it’s going to be a long, hot, expensive day if you forget any of 10 essential items for having a perfect beach day:

1. Sunscreen

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation, and it is also very easy to prevent. When going to the beach, or anywhere really, use sunscreen! If you’re worried about trying to get that summer tan, just find a suncreen with bronzer in it. Sephora has a ton of choices and when you shop through Studentrate, you get 10% cash back on your purchase! Here’s just a few of the sunscreens Sephora has to offer.

Clinique Broad Spectrum, Hampton Sun Sunscreen with Bronzer

Clarins Sunscreen, Ole Henrikson “Protect the Truth” with Vitamin C Sunscreen

2. Towel/Blanket

If you’re going in the water, a towel is a must have. For those who go to the beach to just tan, like I usually do, a blanket can be used in place of a towel. Either way, you’re going to want something big and comfy to lay out on eventually, and here are a couple choices.

Tie Dye Beach Towel from Kmart. Shop through Studentrate and get  4% cash back!

Batik Gallery Tapestry from Urban Outfitters. Shop through Studentrate and get 5% cash back on your purchase!

3. Sun Hat

Another great way to protect your skin is to wear a sun hat! They also look pretty cute on and are a great way to complete any beach outfit.

4. Cover up

No one wants to walk around in their bathing suit all the time, plus a cover up allows you to show off your personal style. Almost everything in your closet can be a cover up when you’re going to the beach, but here’s some that will make a fashion statement while you’re there.

Ecote Beach Day Romper from Urban Outfitters. Shop through Studentrate and get 5% cash back on the order!

5. Snacks/Drinks

When it’s a hot day at the beach, everyone should be drinking water to keep hydrated and refreshed. For other drink ideas to bring to the beach, check out Refreshing Summer Drink Ideas. Pack a cooler with ice, bottles of water, your other drinks of choice, and Tupperware containers filled with snack items like grapes or apple slices. Packing your own lunch is a good idea, even just a sandwich, to help save you money.

6. Sandals

I don’t know many people who would go to the beach with closed toed shoes, but having to fight through the sand with them on is hard work. Find a cute pair of sandals to help add some flair to your beach outfit.

10. Sunglasses
