The Best Plants For Your Dorm Room

I love having plants in my dorm room. I think that it is really important to have plants in your dorm room- they are a major benefit to your spiritual and mental health! They look lovely, they brighten up an otherwise dull interior, and, spiritually, it has to be beneficial to have things that are natural and growing around you.

Of course, it is important to learn about your plants before deciding what you buy. You must think about how much water and sunlight a plant will need- no one wants their plant to die! Ask yourself if your dorm room will meet the plant’s needs before purchasing!

Below is a list of some of the very best plants to brighten up your dorm room.

Cacti

Cacti have to be one of the best! They look great, you can collect many different types and you can arrange them in cute ways around your dorm. They also don’t take too much looking after. Personally, I adore cacti and have always had them in my dorm room. Cacti come in a large variety of shapes and sizes; most students who stay in dorm rooms would opt for a collection of small cacti, rather than one large one, for both spatial and practical reasons. Small cacti are easier to look after- you’re less likely to knock a small plant over when you come in from a night out than you are a large one- and they look super cute on your windowsill! So get yourself a little cacti arrangement ASAP!

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is a lovely plant to keep in your dorm room. Like a cactus, an aloe vera plant doesn’t take too much water, so it is one of the best plants for busy students who will tend to forget the watering process. I have a medium sized aloe vera plant by a mirror and it’s a lovely thing to look at while I do my makeup in the morning! They would also look lovely on a table, and a larger one would look great as a centrepiece of a room.

Snake Plant

Now I love snake plants. They’re slightly bigger than the other plants I have suggested, but they’re still one of the best plants for your dorm room. They’re beautiful and will truly tie your room together. Position your snake plant on the floor (somewhat out of the way but still in view), by a window, or atop a dresser, and your dorm room will be looking smarter in no time.

Jade Plant

Jade plants are gorgeous, small and cute, and look perfect by a windowsill in a lovely little pot. This is one of the best plants for your dorm room, both because it is a lovely and pretty little plant, and because it doesn’t need too much care. I would recommend purchasing multiple jade plants and mix and match their pots for a fun aesthetic. Place them all around your dorm room. They look especially cute by a mirror or in a bookcase.
