Does Sparkling Water Hydrate You? Everything To Know

We all know the benefits of drinking water everyday, and it’s recommended that each person drinks around eight glasses each day in order to stay hydrated. But sometimes, you just want to mix it up a little. To stay away from those unhealthy sodas but still get the same fizzy effect, try sparkling water. Here’s everything you need to know about its hydrating benefits.

1. It’s just as hydrating as regular water

Despite all the myths about sparkling water not being hydrating, it’s actually just as hydrating as regular, flat water. It may not be as easy to guzzle as regular water because of all the bubbles, but it will definitely count towards your eight glasses a day!

2. It can relieve an upset stomach

If you have frequent problems with nausea or general upset stomachs, sparkling water can actually help relieve this. This is because the bubbles will help you relieve any trapped air in your stomach and will make you feel less bloated.

3. It helps with digestion

If you suffer from digestion problems and even constipation, it’s worth making the switch to sparkling water. Studies have shown that sparkling water along with meals can help aid with digestion, and if you drink it regularly, it can improve any general stomach problems overall.

4. It’s not as bad for your teeth as you think

A lot of people claim that sparkling water has a low pH and is therefore bad for your teeth, but that’s not actually true. It won’t actually do that much damage to your enamel. Although it’s a little bit worse than regular water in that sense, it’s a much better (and much more hydrating option) than sugary sodas.

5. It contains electrolytes

Some sparkling water contains sodium, which is an electrolyte. When you sweat, you also lose electrolytes, so these need to be replenished. Sparkling water is a great way to hydrate you after exercise and replace any electrolytes lost during strenuous activity.

6. It keeps you feeling full

Sipping on fizzy drinks can help keep you feeling full because of all the bubbles! If you tend to overeat during meals, try switching out your water for sparkling water, and you’ll notice that you get full much faster. This can also lead to weight loss as you’ll be eating and snacking much less!

7. It’s refreshing

It’s one of those things that is almost always served cold, so it’s perfect on a hot summer day. Plus, the bubbles of air make it extra refreshing. Try adding a slice of lemon to your sparkling water for a great alternative to lemonade.
