All Of The Tips To Know On How To Travel With No Money

Money should never stop you from travelling and seeing the world, as I believe it is opportunities and experiences like this which is paramount in shaping you (sometimes) into a more open and humble person. However, if you’re a student, recent graduate or someone who doesn’t have a large income to spend on expensive flights and hotels but wants to travel, this article is perfect for you as I am going to share with you from personal experiences my own tips on how to travel with no money.

1. Save

This seems pretty obvious but if you want to travel you will make saving a priority. You can earn very little a month but even putting a small sum of money away every month will contribute to your travels. Basically, if you want it enough you CAN save! I have a big money jar in my room and made a conscious effort to put £1 in every day for a year – think that’s £365!

2. Use Air BnB

Air BnB is an amazing way to travel around the world and stay in places for cheap! You can download the app on your phone and search for apartments, rooms or houses wherever you are. Some people even put their own apartment or house on Air BnB while they’re travelling so essentially you can stay at other BnB’s for free or make profit from your own home! This is a great way on how to travel with no money.

3. Use Credit Cards Which Score You Plane Points

I put absolutely everything on my credit card to Starbucks to my Netflix subscription so you can accumulate flight points – British Airways is a great bank to go with to do this if you spend £10,000 a year on your credit card you earn a 2 for 1 travel voucher to fly with a friend anywhere in Europe.

4. Book through STA Travel

STA Travel gives you A LOT cheaper hotels and flights for 18-25 year olds as it’s designed for young people like us who don’t necessarily have large funds to spend on travelling. They have their very own travel stores in major cities or you can book online.

5. Work Remotely While Travelling

With the rise of the digital world, social media has become a significant catalyst of power in regards to  becoming a main source of income for many people! Set up a blog, be creative and you can approach activities or places to stay while you’re travelling for a discount in return for a special feature or review on your blog. Alternatively, use your insta to promote special places along your way as you will already have a following and use the benefit that insta posts can be reached by a wide range of audiences.

6. Cook Your Own Meals

I know when you’re away from home one of the most exciting things to do is try out new restaurants. However, to travel with no money it is essential you are strict with yourself and instead try sourcing your food from local markets and cook your meals yourself!

7. Deal Directly With The Hotel/Hostel

Going through sites such as booking.com sometimes means you miss hotel deals or sometimes it’s even more expensive as you have to remember they need to make money from you as well! I’ve found it’s best to ALWAYS contact the hotel/hostel you want to stay in directly by phone or email to try to haggle the best price.

Which of these tips on how to travel with no money are you going to try this summer? Let us know in the comments below.
