How To Prevent Mascara From Smudging Throughout The Day

I know you’ve been there, looked in a mirror midway through the day only to find your mascara running half way down your face and you have no idea how it got there. Regrettably, mascara has a tendency to move no matter how careful you are about touching your eye, it’s just the nature of the beast. Luckily, we have come up with some great methods of minimising the mess and best ways on how to prevent mascara from smudging.

Let Up On The Cream

Don’t go heavy on moisturiser around your eyes. Even if the rest of your face is extremely dry, your eyelids already have quite a lot of natural oils that will heat up and start moving your makeup without any help from another moisturiser. On that note, try using powdered eyeshadow instead of a cream to help dry down your makeup and keep it in place.

Ready Set Prime

If letting go of your beloved moisturiser doesn’t help the situation it might be a good time to invest in a good eye primer. I’ll admit I’m one of those people that laughed at primers when they first became a thing, but they help my makeup stay in place so much better than just putting it straight on. A good eye primer is actually relatively cheap, this is a product where the drug store version is basically as good as branded so it doesn’t have to break the bank. Primer is an important step to take when following how to prevent mascara from smudging.

Waterproof It

I love a good waterproof mascara personally but I know quite a few people have an issue with them drying their eyelashes. If your eyes tend to water this is your only option to fix your smudging issue. Again, there are plenty of these available at the drugstore so at least it doesn’t break the bank! There are enough on the market that you should easily be able to find one that you get on with, my favourite at the minute is Revlon Dramatic Definition Waterproof Mascara.
