The days of matte, dull skin are officially over guys, we’ve called it. And in its place? Dewy skin that looks creamier than a whole tube of moisturizer. Natural, healthy-looking skin is on the rise, and with it- so many questions about how to actually get it. The good news is that there are many ways, so you can figure out which works best for you. Here’s how to get dewy skin in time for summer!
This doesn’t mean you can’t attempt dewy skin until you’ve got rid of pesky whiteheads and acne breakouts- just that a nourished, prepped canvas is necessary is dewy skin is going to look good. Make sure to cleanse, tone, and moisturise- especially just before applying makeup.
Exfoliating a couple of times a week will SAVE your skin. Having dry, dead skin cells lingering on your face will leave it looking grey and the complete opposite of smooth. Exactly what dewy skin is not about. Make sure to pick a gentle scrub, however, or you might end up with bright red skin, as opposed to just bright.
Gone are cakey foundations that completely blanket your face- it’s time to welcome sheer BB and CC creams into your makeup bag. Choose something that smooths out your complexion, but lets your freckles and skin texture be free.
Of course, oil overload is not the aim with dewy skin, so you’re still going to want to apply a loose powder to your T-Zone. But avoid it on areas around the edge of your face, and definitely leave baking out of your routine.
Separate to giving your skin damage and wrinkles, UV rays can also add to uneven complexions and unwanted brown and red spots. Start wearing a protection SPF daily to prevent discolouration that will put you off going dewy and bare.
Looking after your skin from the inside out is so important. We’re not the ones telling you that water will solve your acne- but it will definitely give you the glow you’ve been missing. Add fruit and veg, and your diet is a recipe for bright, dewy skin.
