How to Avoid Washing Your Hair After A Sweaty Workout

How annoying is it when your gym schedule doesn’t line up with your hair washing routine? We all know and have been told that washing your hair everyday is bad for our hair and scalp, but what are we to do when our hair is horrendously greasy after a serious sweat sesh? While jumping in the shower and using shampoo and conditioner is sometimes unavoidable, it is a good idea if you don’t do this every time – especially if you’re going to the gym almost everyday. So, here are a few tips on how to avoid washing your hair especially after a sweaty workout!

1. Dry Shampoo!

If it isn’t already, dry shampoo will become your best friend. We love it for extra volume and to make greasy hair look fresh again. It’s also great if you can get one that smells good, as this will make you feel even better.

2. A Cold Blowdry!

A cold blast with a hairdryer can help to cool you down and dry off your hair before the sweat dries. This can help to put off washing your hair for a short time if you decide to workout during the middle of the day. This is a really helpful tip on how to avoid washing your hair especially when you’re in a hurry!

3. Just Wash the Front!

If you have a fringe, this tip will really help you out. Most of the time its the top or front of our heads that get the sweatiest, whilst the ends tend to stay more dry (especially if your hair is up in a bun). By washing just the front, you’ll look fresher around your face and will save time as you won’t have to dry and style the rest of your hair. It’s also easy to do over a sink so you don’t necessary have to jump in the shower.

4. A Sweatband!

Although you might feel silly, a sweatband really is a lifesaver when it comes to avoiding washing your hair as it soaks the sweat right up. We love lululemon for keeping our hair off our faces or sweaty betty for saving us from looking like a sweaty betty!

5. Braid Your Hair!

Fishtail, french or pigtails… these braided hairstyles will help you to avoid washing your hair as it will keep your hair off your face and back. Although it might look a little frizzy afterwards, if you’re trying to hold off washing for another day it can help look like you still have your life together.

6. Just Rinse or Conditioner!

If you really can’t avoid washing your hair and feel like you need to jump in the shower, avoid using shampoo and either just rinse your hair or use a bit of conditioner in order to give your hair some TLC.
