Having frizzy hair is both a blessing and a curse. All of you out there who were born with frizzy hair will share the burden of having that chic messy haired look that is half way between straight and curly, but at the same time there’s that tangley mess which doesn’t look quite perky when you wake up in the morning. Let me share with you my favourite tips and tricks on how to manage frizzy wavy hair.
My first and biggest tip for how to manage frizzy wavy hair is to make sure your hair is getting the moisture it needs so it can curl in the right way. Without moisture your hair will lack bounce, and look limp and lifeless. To ensure your frizzy wavy hair looks natural and effortless, there are three ways to add that moisture into your locks. Shampoo and conditioner, oil, and treatments. Here are some of my favourite products to use: start off by using a hydrating shampoo and conditioner set, Garnier Ultimate Blends is a personal favourite of mine (not only that but they smell amazing too!). Next, integrate the habit of doing a hair masque once a week (yes, your hair needs some love too!), one of my favourites is the OUAI Treatment Masque.
Using a texture spray in your frizzy wavy hair will instantly give a boost in volume and curl. On the days where your hair looks like it needs a little bit of help, add a couple of sprits of texture spray in your hair to help it along. Having frizzy and wavy hair makes using texture spray effortless, and get the maximum effect out of it. Some of my favourite ones are Bumble and bumble’s Thickening Dry Spun Finishing Spray, and Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturising Sea Salt Spray.
Having frizzy and wavy hair means lots of volume and curl. In order to maintain that look without having your hair sag and limp, make regular trips to your salon to get it trimmed. This way, your hair can stay healthy and won’t weigh down too much because of the extra length. Be sure to do this even if you are trying to grow out your hair so that all your hair growth is strong and healthy.
This tip on how to manage frizzy wavy hair ties in with the first on the list. A good conditioner is a huge step towards getting hydrated and healthy hair. Not to mention, a lot of you out there with frizzy wavy hair probably don’t like to comb your hair out in fear of crushing your curls. My solution to this is making sure your hair is tangle free when you’re in the shower. Lather your hair up with conditioner and thoroughly go through it with your fingers or a wide toothed comb, this way you can avoid brushing out all the shape in your hair once it is dry. Try to find one that is dense and rich, such as American Cream from Lush Cosmetics.
