10 Easter Memes That Accurately Describe The Holiday

Unless you’re a true believer, Easter is the most boring holiday. a

Sure, there’s plenty of chocolate, but there’s chocolate at Christmas, on Valentine’s Day, your birthday. The only difference on Easter is that it’s shaped like eggs which, supposedly, is very exciting…when you’re 7.

By the time you become an adult, the novelty of egg-shaped chocolate treats is very much lost. You can no longer join in the fun of trying to find oval-shaped, foil wrapped chocolates that supposedly celebrate the death and rebirth of the Lord. Fortunately, for my fellow grown-ups, the prize has changed from something that tickles your sweet tooth to the cultural transmission of quick-fire jokes. Nowadays, there’s no better way to celebrate holidays these days than by scrolling through the finest memes on circulation, and Easter offers up a variety of wonderful pieces. Memes have become the epitome of culture, the way we measure how successful something is, and Easter’s success is vast.

Here’s 10 Easter Egg memes that perfectly sum up Easter Sunday, satirically described as if they are pieces of high art.

1) An old but gold piece, discussing love, relationships and the origin of existence, this offering combines nature and knowledge with a healthy dose of sexually-influenced fun.

2) A debate that examines our innate loyalties, our need for satisfaction and giving in to our desires, all the while knowing it could hurt us long term. We’ve all fallen prey to a dabble in our dark fantasies and, more often than not, we never look back.

3) An observational one, discussing our dietary habits and the way they have changed over the years. This piece also makes use of deception in the form of a bait-and-switcharoo. This is a big shout to my vegan brothers and sisters too.

4) Whilst we’re abandoning the seemingly traditional approach to the Easter holiday, we must never forget the very core of what it all really means and that is the focus of this piece. With religious connotations aplenty, we explore what it means to celebrate Easter with the Lord.

5) Classic, pun-based comedy will never go out of fashion. Relying on language-based humour, this is a joke that would probably have made more sense in 2012. I affectionately refer to this piece as ‘The Punny Rabbit’ (sorry.)

6) Sticking to the theme of family-friendly comedy, here’s a second, sickly-sweet piece that’s appropriate to share with the kids.

7) After using 2 kids jokes in a row, it’s time to return to the more sultry editions. This one is a wonderful little number, a display of adulthood directly contained within our childhood.

8) Continuing upon the theme of adult-appropriate Easter activities, the following meme comments on the economic instability of our education system. It’s also the one acceptable reason that college kids will be participating in an Easter Egg hunt.

9) As we approach the end of the line, I’d like to include a darker piece, one that comments and mirrors some of the blacker elements of our society. This comes with a trigger warning as it’s possible that the following image of an Easter snack will be taken as offensive. (As a side note, I genuinely can’t even tell if this is a real product or not but, if it is, someone needs to tell Tide to stop making their products look like candy.)

and finally…

10) I’m not going to sully this one with my silly taglines. This is the OG Easter Egg and goes out to all my gamer friends. If you know, you know. If you don’t, Google it.
Which of these memes do you relate to the most? Are there other memes that sum up your Easter experience even more accurately? Post them below in the comments!
