Dairy Free Cheeses That Tastes Like The Real Thing

If you’ve recently made the switch to a vegan diet or simply can’t eat dairy, one of the hardest things to give up had to be cheese. But don’t you worry, more and more brands are coming out with dairy alternatives for your favourite products, from yoghurt, to ice cream, and of course, cheese! So that you don’t have to do the hunting around yourself, we’re here to tell you what dairy free cheeses taste like the real thing.

If you’re looking for an all-rounder vegan cheese that you can grate, slice onto sandwiches or stir into pasta sauces, then this is the one for you. Violife was one of the first brands to create vegan cheeses, so they really know their stuff. The brand is also available at most major supermarkets, such as Tesco. This is one of the dairy free cheeses that you’re sure to fall in love with!

2. Tofutti Soft Cheese

This is many a vegan’s favourite alternative to cream cheese. Use this along with your breakfast, or substitute it into all your favourite baking recipes. The best part? This “cheese” is easy enough to purchase at Sainsbury’s or online at The Vegan Kind online supermarket.

3. Tyne Chease Macadamia Truffle

For gourmet cheese lovers, Tyne Chease is a brand worth checking out. They have a great selection of luxurious cheese wheels that will appease even the biggest vegan cheese skeptics. All their goods are available to order online. Definitely try one of their truffle cheeses, such as the macadamia truffle or the cashew truffle.

4. The Naturally Vegan Cheese Company Vegan Cheeze Balls

If you’re planning your next dinner party and want an appetiser that will please both vegans and non-vegans, opt for a Vegan “Cheeze” Ball as your centrepiece. The Naturally Vegan Cheese Company sells all their products online through Yumbley. Their original cheeze ball is made from nuts but has a soft velvety texture and a taste similar to cheddar cheese. This is as good as it gets!

5. Violife Halloumi

Here’s another winner from the folks at Violife. Not many brands have been able to pull off a vegan halloumi alternative, but this one is actually really close to the real thing. This is available at all Waitrose stores, so you’re only a supermarket trip away from enjoying your fave fried halloumi treats. This is one of the best dairy free cheeses brand!

This is the mozzarella alternative that a lot of Italian chain restaurants use in their vegan dishes, so you know it works. If you’re looking to make pizza and need a wonderfully melty vegan alternative, this is the brand for you. This brand is available for purchase on The Vegan Kind online supermarket.

7. Nutcrafter Creamery Blue Cheese

If you’re after a stronger, true cheese flavour, Nutcrafter Creamery has perfected a Blue Cheese that is completely vegan. Like their name suggests, all their products use nuts to achieve the flavour and consistency of dairy cheese. Check out their selection of aged cheeses, soft spreads and even vegan butter on their website.
