The morning after a night out can be one of the worst thing imaginable. Your hair’s a mess, your face is puffy, you forgot to take your makeup off and your hair’s a mess, not to mention you might have overslept and are now running late. You need fixes – and fast. Luckily, with all the tips and tricks, you’ll be dealing with a hangover like a champ and at least look like a normal functioning human being.
Taking care of your skin is very important when dealing with a hangover. If you slept in your makeup, the first thing you should do is take it off. Use a gentle cleanser like micellar water that won’t irritate your skin, and use gentle circular motions to remove the traces of the night before – this small massage will actually help decrease puffiness all over your face. Resist the urge to scrub at your face, as this will only cause irritation and end up with you looking worse.
Sheet Masks have become really popular in the past year or so, and it’s easy to see why – with sheet masks you simply smooth the mask over your face, wait 15 minutes then just take it off again – far less mess than using a traditional face mask. Pop a brightening sheet mask on, lie back and catch those 10-15 minutes of extra sleep, peel it off and pat your skin dry and you’ll be looking better already.
The sheet mask may help with this, but if you need some spot treatement quickly, use these quick and easy home remedies. Either cut two slices of cucumber (yes, this really works!) and place them over the eyes for 10 minutes – something you can do whilst wearing the sheet mask. If you do not have any cucumber to hand, soak 2 teabags in hot water for a few minutes, then leave them to cool. Once they are cool, pop them over your eyes and cover them with a soft cloth for 10 minutes. Since you can use these methods and the sheet mask simultaneously, you’ll save time and be fixing two problems at once.
If your hair is a greasy mess and you don’t have time for a shower, simply blast your roots with some dry shampoo, massage it into your scalp to make sure it blends in, then brush and style your hair as normal. Dry shampoo actually gives your hair a bit of volume as well as disguising your greasy roots, so your hair will look full of life even if you feel like death.
Red splotches can be one of the hardest thing to deal with, but if you use a colour-correcting concealer then these tell-tale signs of a night out can be gone for good! Don’t go too overboard with the concealer and use a light BB cream or tinted moisturiser on top, as using full coverage products on skin that is not looking its best can actually make it look worse.
If you’re looking a little gaunt as a result of your headache and/or nausea, swipe a little blusher across your cheeks and across the tip of your nose. This will instantly give you a brighter, more youthful look meaning that it will be harder to tell that you didn’t actually wake up like this. Pop on a bright lipstick too, and no-one will be able to tell that you’re hungover.
