If you want to have hair the adorable Queen of Pop, follow these tips to get the Ariana Grande ponytail look.
Ariana’s look starts even before her hair is dry. To get the volume needed for her super-high pony, flip your head upside down, and use your hairdryer and a round brush to blow your hair into the direction it will be in when it is a ponytail. This will make your hair as sleek as possible and make sure there are now bumps once you put your hair up. It will also make all the other steps easier as your hair will already naturally be falling in the direction of your ponytail.
Once your hair is blow dried, straighten it with a good hair straightener on a fairly high heat. Use a heat protection spray to keep your hair from getting damaged, and carefully straighten all of your hair, being sure to work out any and all waves and kinks. Once you have straightened all your hair, rub a couple of squirts of hair oil in your palms and run your hands through your hair, distributing it evenly. This will not only keep your hair healthy and soft, it will make your hair look super sleek and shiny, just like Ariana’s.
Teasing your hair will help give it an extra boost of volume, and give it texture which will make it easier to pull it all back into a ponytail, and to clip extensions in. Tease your hair by taking a teasing comb and brushing down your hair towards your roots at the base of your scalp. Remember to tease under the hair in the direction you’re going to pull it back, and to brush the hair backwards over the teasing to make sure there are no bumps. This is really important if you want to get the Ariana Grande ponytail just right!
If you want to fully copy Ariana’s super-long pony, use extensions to complete the look. Decide where you want the ponytail placement to be in your hair, and make an anchor there by pulling up a small section of hair where the centre of the ponytail will be. Then, clip in your extensions around this point and sweep the rest of you hair up.
Pull the whole of your hair into a high ponytail, leaving one strand of your hair free to wrap around the base of the ponytail to conceal the bobble, just like Ariana does. Take some gel and slick back any small hairs that make have not made it into the ponytail around your face. Then, finish with hairspray so your ponytail stays looking flawless all day. This is obviously a crucial step if you want the Ariana Grande ponytail!
If you want to have a cutely curled ponytail as Ariana sometimes does, then curl your hair once it is in the ponytail. Spray some heat protective spray and section off your hair into even pieces before curling it. This will ensure that all your curls are perfectly placed, and will stop your hair from having any bumps in the front as it may do if you curl it before you put it into a ponytail. Once you have curled your hair, brush it out slightly for Ariana’s effortless waves and spray it with hairspray to ensure that it stays up.
