A List Of The Best Drugstore Makeup Remover

If you’re anything like me, taking off your glam for the day is the worst. It’s boring, it takes effort, and you often have to do it tired, drunk, or both. However, it is unfortunately an essential part of your skincare routine – sleeping in make up can lead to clogged pores, acne, and (gasp!) early signs of ageing. So how to make it easy and, importantly, affordable? Luckily for you, I have gathered my top ten list of the best drugstore makeup remover that will leave you feeling fresh and clean and have your skin thanking you.

Revolution Pro Cleanse Makeup Removing Cleansing Water

Revolution are my all time favourite drugstore brand – their products are high quality and low cost. Their makeup can be heavy duty, so it’s unsurprising that they have an excellent cleansing water out too. Enriched with vitamins A, B and C, this will leave your skin radiant and make up free.

Simple Kind To Skin Facial Cleansing Wipes

Arguably a skincare classic, I find that these wipes are perfect for a quick once over before bed if you really can’t be bothered doing more, or for traveling and festivals. They remove even the toughest of make up including waterproof mascara, can be found in any Boots, Superdrug and most supermarkets, and are an absolute bargain. There’s also a variety of wipes available to suit your skin type – ideal.

Afterspa Makeup Remover

You may have seen these so-called “magic” flannels on Insta and the like and thought, nope that’s definitely too good to be true. I’m here to tell you that the rumours are in fact true, and this does work – I picked one up in Sephora when I was on holiday, and I haven’t looked back. I’m so pleased they’re now available in the UK because I promise you, they truly remove all your make up with just water. Call it a miracle, call it science, this flannel is the bomb. This is a best drugstore makeup remover because it is so easy to use.

Garnier Micellar Water Sensitive Skin

Don’t be put off by the fact that you don’t know how to pronounce “micellar” – no one does – all you need to know is that this fancy water draws out dirt, oil and impurities without drying your skin out, making this a perfect makeup remover. Garnier is my go-to brand, as they offer different bottles for different skincare needs, and a lot of product for your money.

Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Skin Renew Cleansing Oil

I was initially skeptical of cleansing oils – adding oil to my already oily face? Are you serious? However, as long as this is used as part of a double cleansing routine – cleansing once to remove the upper layer of make up and dirt, then again to truly clean the skin – then not only is it good for your skin (no matter how oily), it also is an incredible way to remove make up. I massage this onto dry skin, then add a little warm water to transform into a milky lather before rinsing off with a flannel. The oil will dissolve your makeup, making it super easy to wipe off, plus the Vitamin C will give you a healthy glow. What more could you ask for?

La Roche-Posay Sensitive Cleansing Milk

This is excellent for those of you with dry or sensitive skin. The creamy formula is 100% hypoallergenic and doesn’t contain any nasties, but still gets through tough make up with no need for vigorous rubbing, leaving your skin feeling smooth, soft and pampered. Simply apply to a cotton pad and wipe off the day – easy peasy. This is a best drugstore makeup remover because it works and is super simple with its squirt pump.

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm

Okay, so this is a little pricier than the others – but you can buy it at Boots (think of the advantage card points!) and it’s so worth it. This cleansing balm looks and feels like coconut oil, but without the smell and with added goodies, and is my daily go-to. The formula melts on your skin, dissolving make up and dirt, and can even be used on your eyes without causing any stinging or irritation. It’s my ride or die make up remover, and this list wouldn’t be complete without it – while still drugstore, it adds a bit of luxe to your routine. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Clarins Instant Eye Makeup Remover

Is it just me, or does anyone else remember sneaking into their mum’s bedroom to use this classic eye make up remover? Anyone? If this stuff could remove the multiple layers of cheap mascara and heavy black eyeliner from my teens, it’s got to be good. It’s a “bi-phase lotion,” which essentially means it’s made up of two different liquids that you shake together to activate, and it quickly and easily gets everything off with the sweep of a cotton pad, and no irritation. A must have.

NYX Professional Makeup Be Gone! Lip Colour Remover

With the rise of long lasting liquid lipsticks (thanks, Kylie Jenner), comes an increase of 20-somethings across the country desperately scrubbing at their lips, wondering if it was all worth it. Lipstick removers are hard to come by, but with this vitamin E-enriched formula you no longer have to worry about chapped lips come the morn – the gentle balm will leave your lips feeling cleansed, soft and kissable. This best drugstore makeup remover focuses on the lip and getting off remnants of lipstick stain, which can be very tough.

Johnson’s Extra Sensitive Baby Wipes

And finally, let’s go back to basics with the simple baby wipe. These honestly got me through the lazy days of my teens – cheap as chips, stick a pack on your bedside table for those nights you’re already cozy in bed and just can’t be bothered to move. You’ll thank yourself in the morning.
