10 St. Patrick’s Day Cocktails You Need In Your Life

If there is any time of the year that is closely associated with great company, delightful drinks/cocktails, and scrumptious food, it is without a doubt the Irish holiday of St. Patrick’s Day (March 17). Unsurprisingly, to a certain extent, people generally begin associating this wonderful holiday with anything alcohol-related, and with honest reason.

For example, have you ever heard of an Irish Car Bomb? No? Well, I dislike being that person who states the blatantly obvious, but you should probably consider getting out more than, you know, once every fourteen months. Nevertheless, if you prefer staying in with your Netflix and kitties this holiday season, then I can surely help you out with this indisputable list of tasteful St. Patrick’s Day cocktails. Cheers to one hell of a hangover!

1. The Shamrock

One of numerous St. Patrick’s Day cocktails with a clearly Irish name, the Shamrock is the perfect cocktail for those who fancy sweet yet robust flavors. The standard recipe incorporates gin, vodka, rum, tequila, and blue curacao. If you’re wondering, that’s basically the equivalent of about three and a half standard drinks.

2. Emerald Rain

Appealing name aside, this here is one of the St. Patrick’s Day cocktails that acquires its green color from mixing orange juice with Hpnotiq ‘liqueur’. The unique blend of this recipe results in a flavor with acute notes of citrus and mellow tropical fruit.

3. Irish Coffee

Albeit not a cocktail per se, you just can’t have a list of St. Patrick’s Day cocktails without giving this classic recipe a well-deserved shoutout. That said, it will obviously be spiked with Jameson whiskey!

4. Honeydew Martini

This recipe calls for Midori (which essentially tastes like honeydew), Triple Sec, and vodka. By mixing all three together, you’ll obtain a memorable cocktail that is both sweet and tart. If you’re in the mood to be extra fancy, you may garnish the cocktail with a slice of citrus fruit.

5. Gold Emerald Shooter

Before I even proceed, if you’re someone who gags simply at the thought of drinking Goldschlager, then you may want to altogether skip this recipe. The reason being, when blending Midori with Goldschlager, you’ll get one hell of an unusual flavor combination that you won’t soon forget. But fear not, it’s actually sapid.

6. Chocolate Leprechaun

When it comes to St. Patrick’s Day cocktails, I don’t think that you can actually get any more Irish than this. Thankfully for amateurs, it is a rather light, simply utilizing Irish cream as its source of alcohol. Moreover, it looks exactly like chocolate milk, perfect for breakfast! (Not really.)

7. Irish Hammer

Combining Jack Daniels (not very Irish now is it? I personally suggest switching to Jameson whiskey, it’s the least that you can do), Irish Mist (with notes of caramel and honey), and Baileys, this cocktail is perfect for any St. Patrick’s Day event!

8. Green Dragon

Hell if I know if there were ever any dragons in Ireland (sarcasm intended…), all I know is that this recipe calls for a very unique set of flavors such as anise, mint, and gin. This will result in an acquired taste that is definitely not meant for everyone. Luckily for you, by the time you decide to attempt this cocktail, you’ll be too hammered to even notice!

9. Green Dublin

Apparently, the Green Dublin is about as Irish as it gets (I feel like I’ve heard that one before). In this cocktail, you’ll basically uncover any liquor (such as sour apple schnapps) with the intention of turning your tongue green. Oh, and I think there is Jameson Whiskey somewhere in there as well.

10. Irish Car Bomb

And there you have it, ladies and gentlemen, we have come full-circle. In short, this mouth-watering cocktail has a (preferably sober) individual theatrically plunge Baileys and Jameson whiskey into a pint of Guinness. Forget that last recipe because you seriously can’t get any more Irish than this! (Unless, of course, you actually are Irish, in which case I do apologize.)

Enough about me and my favorites, what are your preferred St. Patrick’s Day cocktails to down with your closest mates?  If you are yet to be hungover, let me know in the comments below!
