Why I’m Excited To Start At Ryerson University

Ryerson University is what one would call a dream school. In the heart of Toronto,it encompasses the essence of city life in a secure and spacious location. Who wouldn’t want to go there? Here are the top reasons why I’m super excited to start at Ryerson University this fall.

1. Amazing History Department

As I will be entering the field of history at Ryerson, the course offerings mean a great deal to me. On their website I have noticed some of the best history courses, compared to many other universities in Canada. Anyone interested in Pharoahs and pyramids? It’s all there!

2. Traveling

There are numerous opportunities to travel while studying at Ryerson. Exchanges take place in many countries, but you can choose where you want to study for a semester from a wide variety. Personally, I’m hoping for a European exchange, but the options are no less exciting as they are countless.

3. Outside Opportunitites

While studying at Ryerson, I will be able to participate in opportunities relating to my area of study outside of the lecture hall. For example, Ryerson holds the International Issues Discussion (IID) series for students who want to be involved in global issues and make a vocal change. Opportunities such as this are perfect for adding to a resume, gaining experience, and feeling included in the community.

4. Proximity To The Museum

After reading many Ryerson student blogs, it’s clear that they often win tickets to visit the ROM. For a history buff, this is fantastic news! Being so close to campus, and containing such wonderful and important artifacts, it’s difficult not to be excited. There are many fun attractions for different types of people in the Toronto region, so everyone will find something they love!

5. Learning New Things

Ultimately, I’m excited to continue learning new and interesting things. Learning is the essence of school, no matter what school you attend. But at Ryerson, I know I will learn many unique and diverse aspects in my field. My goal is to become a top historian, and I know Ryerson will help me achieve that.

6. Meeting New Friends

I hope to meet many new people that can enrich my life and experiences. Having friends is so important, and I can’t imagine surviving at a new school without any.

7. Meeting New Professors

One of the best things about school is getting to meet professors who are knowledgeable, intelligent, and have possibly done field work. I’m excited to ask them about their education and specializations. Knowledge you can gain from a professor will be valuable for life.

8. Being Close To Home

When I attend Ryerson, I will only be an hours distance from my home. I’ll get to live at home while going to school, which will save me a lot of money in the long run. Being so close means that transportation will be close to effortless.

9. New School Books

Perhaps I’m just a geek when it comes to school, but I love purchasing and using new school books. Books in university are much different than high school. They are always up to date, visually appealing, and interesting. Being in the arts program, reading is essential and I look forward to it.
