You Might Like Peanut Milk Better Then The Alternative… Here’s Why

Yep, peanut milk is now a thing! It has not yet reached the UK, but everyone in America are going crazy over it! The US company Elmhurst Dairy has recently released this milk opting for a nut milk instead of cow’s milk. But why is it so good? Why does everyone love it? Well, here are a few reasons you might like it better than any other nut milk!

Vegan.

As its name suggests, it is vegan! It is made out of peanuts and only peanuts! It’s a healthy plant-based milk alternative for all those lactose intolerant and those who choose to not eat meat and any animal product.

More protein!

It’s true that peanuts contain more protein than, let’s say almonds. Don’t be surprised that peanut milk has more protein than almond milk. In a glass of peanut milk there is 8 grams of protein while in a glass of almond milk there’s only 1 gram. See what I mean? The difference is huge in terms of nutrition.

Easy to make it yourself!

After reading an article by the Guardian about peanut milk, I am convinced that you can make it at home too! The recipe is simple: you soak the peanuts overnight, then you blend them with fresh water and add your favourite sweetener like vanilla and dates, and finally you strain it! For all the UK people who really want to try it, there is a recipe!!

Tastes like peanut butter!

It really does! The texture is thick just like cow’s milk, which is really strange since you’re drinking peanut milk. In comparison to almond milk or oat milk, which taste like water and just plain, peanut milk actually has a mild peanut taste which is great for smoothies!

Sustainable production.

Not everyone knows this but there are more peanuts in the world rather than almonds. It’s easier to produce peanuts, as they require sunshine, rather than almonds as the almond trees require a lot of water. The rise in almond milk production meant over-farming. Also, over-farming happens with cow milk as well. Peanut milk is a more ethical and sustainable milk version, perfect for every milk lover!
