Nowadays, we see hundreds of people going on solo trips to exotic countries; we admire these people but we can never imagine ourselves going on a solo trip. Why not? Shouldn’t everyone travel alone, at least once in their lifetime? In this post, we’ll be exploring reasons why you should take a solo trip.
Going away is expensive; no matter where you’re from or how low you can get your travel deal. Going solo traveling is a lot cheaper than taking a partner, friend, family member or children with you. You only have to pay for yourself; when it comes to flights, food and hotels. You can save yourself hundreds, sometimes thousands of pounds by going alone. Although it may be tough to travel alone the first few times, you’ll start to get used to it.
When you go away with a partner or friend, the chances are that you don’t like what they choose to do on holiday or where they want to go, and vice versa. When you solo travel, you don’t have that problem; you can go where you want, do what you want and even eat what you want. How many times have we all be on holiday and our friend says they want a salad when all we want is a massive burger? How many times have you wanted to go to an art gallery, museum or a park but your other half didn’t fancy it?
When you solo travel, you get to stay in the hotel you choose without worrying what the other person would think about where you’ve booked.
When you’re alone on holiday, you tend to make friends quite quickly and these strangers soon become close friends of yours. You can make friends all around the globe and even plan to travel together in the future. You don’t have to commit to seeing these people again; you can just enjoy the stories they give you and the ear they lend.
These fellow travelers may be able to give you tips on where to eat or the locals may suggest a museum you’ll love. If you stay at an AirBnB or stay in a hostel, then you’ll get more of a chance to meet new people and make friends.
When we feel uncertain about things, we tend to want to run away from everything and everyone. We want to travel, get to know ourselves. Traveling solo allows you to get to know more about your thoughts, what you like, what you don’t like. Being alone can be therapeutic, especially after a traumatic event or a break up. It seems cliche to say you find yourself when you run away, but you do. You can find yourself in the people you meet, places you go and the food you eat.
