8 Unique Fundraising Ideas You Should Try

With so many people raising money for charities these days, it’s not always easy to come up with unique fundraising ideas to encourage people to support you. If bake sales and ugly jumper days just aren’t doing it for you anymore, do not fear – these unique fundraising ideas will help you reach your target in no time!

1. ‘Big Night In’

If you’re anything like me, you’ll find yourself so excited for your next big night out that you might as well cross the days leading up to it off of your calendar. However, I’m also a sucker for a night in every now and then – I love being able to just chill in my pj’s and put on a great film that I can laugh hysterically at (or cry at, depending on my mood). This would act as a great fundraiser, where you get a group of friends to come round yours and give whatever they would have spent, had you all gone out, to your chosen charity! It really is as easy as that.

2. Carnival

If you’re the sort of person whose ideal date is going to the fairground, this one would be a laugh for you. Maybe you have a great imagination and have thought of something that these fairs are missing, and if that is the case, why not include it in your own carnival? Create some homemade booths and costumes, get people to help run it with you, and watch everyone have fun for just a small token towards your charity.

3. Balloon Pop

If you’re looking for unique fundraising ideas, this is certainly not one you hear of people doing regularly. Hide prizes inside a few balloons (they really don’t have to be anything big) and sell needles to your event-goers, then watch as they ‘pop for prizes’! Do be careful with this one, though, as there’s an obvious safety issue when it comes to children handling needles.

4. Coffee Morning

Holding a coffee morning is as simple as it gets – you might even do this regularly with your friends already! All you have to do is take it in turns to host a coffee morning (or if you don’t like coffee, make it a drink of your choice) and charge your guests a small amount of money when they arrive. Then just have a good natter and enjoy each other’s company!

5. Activity Marathon

This one’s quite a fun one if you’re the sort of person who can easily go without much sleep. Get a group of friends together, decide on an activity that you’d all like to take part in, and then keep it going for 24 hours straight. Yep, you heard me, 24 hours. There are all sorts of things you could do, with dancing being a very popular choice. Make sure you get someone to video/stream it all so that no-one can say they don’t believe you did it!

6. Rock-Paper-Scissors Tournament

Perfect for the youngsters among us, a rock-paper-scissors tournament is sure to get competitive in no time. Make sure you all agree on the rules before you start, and then get people to make bets on who they reckon is going to win! You could also ask the participants themselves to donate a small amount of money to your cause.

7. Haircut Party

If you know of any extremely generous hairdressers, this one is a must! If they’re willing to donate their time for a few hours, or even a full day, go ahead and ask customers to pay you whatever they think their new haircut is worth. Plus, if the hair salon you choose happens to be known for their five-star reviews, you’ll be raking in the pounds in no time!

8. Dare Fundraiser

If you always choose ‘Dare’ in a game of ‘Truth or Dare’, this is the fundraiser for you. All you have to do is host a competition where people agree to do some crazy things, and ask people to sponsor them for it! The most challenging part will be finding people bonkers enough to take on the challenge…

These unique fundraising ideas will not only be a lot of fun, but are guaranteed to help you towards your fundraising target. Do you know of any unique fundraising ideas? Let us know all about them in the comments below!
