The Best UK Pride Events To Attend This Summer

Wondering which Pride events to attend this summer? Can only afford to attend one and can’t decide which to go for? Well, we’ve got you covered!

Pride events can be so much fun and are possibly the most fun and least judgmental events you’ll even go to. Even if you yourself are not an LGBTQ+ member, why not go along and show your support for the community? Get yourself a brightly coloured outfit, some glitter and a flag, and go have a good time while being an ally to the community!

It’s so important to show your support for the LGBTQ+ community whether you’re a member of it or just an ally. Gay pride was originally created as a positive stance against discrimination and violence towards lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, and although we’ve moved on a lot since pride was first created, the discrimination is very much still happening. So be sure this summer to attend a pride event if you can, to show your support.

The three must-attend pride events

So are you which pride events in the UK are must-attend? Here are three that seriously cannot be missed!

1. Manchester Pride

The Manchester Pride Festival is one heck of an event. Comprised of Manchester Pride Live, the Candlelit Vigil, the Superbia Weekend, the Gay Village Part, Manchester Pride Parade and Youth Pride MCR, there is plenty to see and do. This year’s event is also set to be bigger and better than ever, spanning from Mayfield to Deansgate and boasting an incredible music line up, with the likes of Ariana Grande, Years & Years, Bananarama, and many more. Plus, the event is always held during the Late Summer Bank Holiday weekend, so what could be a better way to spend your three day weekend than at Manchester Pride?

2. Brighton Pride

Brighton Pride saw around 400,000 people turn out for the event in 2018. With a full parade, the Pride in the Park festival, and even a Pride Dog Show (!!!) it promises to be a fantastic event! Over the years, the Pride in the Park festival has attracted some of the biggest names in the music industry, with Kylie Minogue and Jessie J set to rock the main stage this August. Brighton’s train station is just a stroll from the parade route and a short walk from the Preston Park event, making travelling to the event very straightforward. Tickets are still on sale for this year’s event this August, so if this has won you over – you better go grab yourself a ticket fast!

3. London Pride

London Pride is arguably one of the most popular pride events in the UK, in fact London’s 2015 Gay Pride Parade attracted 1 million people – making it the 7th largest gay event in the world! LGBTQ+ people have been marching in London for 47 years now, having originally started as a response to the 1969 Stonewall Riots in New York. London Pride this year will include theatre & cabaret shows, tours, exhibitions, conferences, museum events and so much more – there truly is something for everyone at London’s Pride Festival. This year’s parade will take place on Saturday 6th July, so be sure to get your tickets ASAP!

So, whether you’re looking to have a really fun and colourful weekend full of glitter, alcohol and good music whilst supporting the LGBTQ+ community, or you want to go out and show off how proud you are to be YOU, why not go and visit one of these three pride events? Be sure to let us know in the comments if you’ve ever attended any of pride events and what you loved about them!
