The Best Revision Tips To Get You Through Exams

Exams are here and it’s safe to say we’re all freaking out. Too much too learn, too little time, and the incessant need to just crawl into bed and avoid everything. Revision is hard and feeling like you have no idea what your doing is even harder, so here are a few handy tips to slightly ease the pain of exam season. Here are some of the best revision tips we can think of!

1. Make a timetable

Creating a plan in advance of when and what you’re going to revise is a great way of seeing how it will all come together. You will also feel less panicky about fitting everything in pre-exam AND you can make plans really pretty FYI.

2. Break often

Breaks after 30 minutes of solid work are recommended, because working for any longer than that is just too much, tbh. Working in short bursts won’t just stop your brain from frazzling, but it will help you section up what you need to learn, and make it seem like less of a task.

3. Get drinks and food

Do this in advance. If you don’t have everything you could possibly dream of needing food and drinks-wise on your desk, you will use it as an excuse to nip to the shop or your kitchen.

4. Excercise

Use your designated break to do some exercise. Whether that’s a quick jog, some yoga stretches, or a walk to the corner store to top up on tea bags and crisps, exercise is proven to help you out during revision when it comes to putting in long shifts.

5. Start early

Whilst not all of us are morning people, and the thought of getting to the library for 9 am is terrifying, it’s a must that you start revising in the morning. It’s too easy to put it off and stay too late, getting no sleep. Start early, fit it all in, and get home early.

6. Spice it up

Black and white revision notes are just not interesting to look at or make, and that will 100% mean you don’t take it in. Try using different colours and making mindmaps to keep your mind ticking. Just don’t spend too much time making your flashcards pretty.

7. Make summary notes

The best way to revise is by reducing the amount of information you need to see to be able to remember the whole topic. Starting with a lecture or a book chapter, and constantly dwindling it down to what is most important or the biggest signpost is a great way to consider revising.

8. Record yourself

Recording yourself speaking your notes or specific quotes etc. that you need to remember is a great revision hack. Simply listen to it whilst you go about your daily tasks- walking to uni, doing the washing up. You will be amazed how much you take in without putting any effort in. This is definitely one of the best revision tips!
