8 Plants That Will Be Perfect For Your Bedroom

Plants are the perfect way to bring nature indoors. It’s also a good way for you to practice taking care of something if you’re not quite ready for a pet. Trust me, taking care of plants sound really easy until one of them starts dying. It can also sound really hard until you get the hang of it. Whatever your reasons for wanting a plant in your bedroom (or flat), this article might just help you pick the right one for you.

We’re taking a look at a few of the awesome plants currently on Patch Plants website. Of course, you can get yours from Ikea, Lidl, or better yet – a flower market/shop near you. Patch, however, offers convenience for people in London who for whatever reason don’t want or can’t go plant shopping. They also have tons of advice on taking care of your plants.

If you are looking for some more in-depth advice, you can definitely find some comprehensive videos on YouTube, such as Houseplants 101 and How To Care For Indoor Plants. Now let’s take a look at eight plants that could be just perfect for your bedroom!

1. Dumb Cane

I have this plant. Its botanical name is Dieffenbachia Seguine. I bought it on a whim in Aldi, because I loved it. It was the first plant I ever bought and it’s still looking good, even though we’ve had our issues and we’ve had to part with some of its leaves. It will bounce back if you see it’s not quite happy and try to switch things up.

Generally, keep it away from direct sunlight and away from cold. Wipe down dust from its gorgeous leaves from time to time. And water it when the soil is dry. You can read more here

2. Snake Plant

When it comes to beginner house plants – the snake plant is definitely up there. Not only will this plant keep your bedroom air free of toxins and full of oxygen at night, but legend has it that it also helps you sleep!

It’s really easy to take care of as long as you don’t overwater it. It’s so easy to take care of that it’s one the (almost) unkillable plantsClick here to learn more.

3. Aloe Vera

We’ve all heard of the medicinal purposes of aloe vera. Aside beyond that, the Aloe Vera is a great air purifying ability. Famously great for sunburns, but equally great for kitchen burns. It will keep the air in your bedroom free of pollutants. Click here to find out more.

Be careful not to overwater your Aloe Vera, though, because it will not have it. Unfortunately, that’s speaking from experience and my (so-far) futile attempts to bring my Aloe Vera back to its prime. Click here to find out more about it.

4. Cactus

Who doesn’t love a good cactus? Cacti have been gaining quite a bit of popularity in recent years. They are really easy to take care of. Need very little watering. Very little!

These plants like the sun and don’t love water. You can learn more about them here. Though you probably have at least one friend who loves cacti.

5. Succulents

Succulents are also becoming increasingly popular. Which is probably due to the fact that they’re mostly self-sufficient. Anyone can take care of a succulent! They are super low-maintenance.

These plants will grow best if they are on a sunny spot, such as a windowsill. If you love cacti but want to branch out a little, succulents might be the first step. To learn more about these nonchalant plants click here

6. Elephant Ear Plant

If you thought the previous plants were not interesting enough, this one might catch your eye. With zebra-like stems and elephant-ear-like leaves, your friends will definitely call your plant “exotic”.

Don’t be scared by the looks though, this plant is easy to take care of. Place somewhere with indirect sunlight and enough space to grow and it will thrive. If you want to learn more, click here

7. Rubber Plant

One of the best air purifying plants and one of the best options for a first plant. It will be great not only for your bedroom but for your living room too. It can become quite big, so you’ll have an opportunity to feel like a proud plant parent after a few years.

It likes a place in indirect sunlight, though it’s not as fussy about that like other plants. You’ll also want to wipe down the leaves from time to time to get rid of the dust. If you’re curious about this plant, click here to read more.

8. Peace Lily

This plant will bring beauty to your home with its year-round flowers and dark-green leaves. This is not one of the best beginner plants. It’s not particularly hard to take care of, but it’s more high-maintenance than the other plants, especially if you are keeping it in your bedroom.

It enjoys shade and humidity, so if you keep it in your bedroom, you’ll have to mist it from time to time. Just like all the other plants, if you keep it happy, it will keep you happy. Learn more about it here
