10 Places In The UK You Have To Visit

There are so many great reasons to travel to the UK. Fantastic cities, a fascinating history, cute villages and stunning natural beauty- the UK really does have it all. So whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast or just a fan of all things to do with the royal family, here are 10 places in the UK that you have to check out.

1. London

It’s the obvious one- but we couldn’t do a list about places to visit in the UK and not put London on the list. One of the greatest cities in the world, England’s capital boasts beautiful architecture, a diverse food scene, fantastic bars and no end of palaces and royal parks to explore.

2. Oxford

A trip to Oxford just feels like you’re wandering around the university campus the entire time. This student town is one of the most picturesque in the UK and it’s just the right size that you’re guaranteed to feel at home there. There’s so much to do in Oxford from country walks to university campus tours and great nightlife, hence why it’s favourite with Brit’s and tourists alike. 

3. Brighton

Brighton is one of the UK’s favourite student cities and it’s easy to see why. An edgy music scene, narrow laneways and some of the best food around- not to mention the vibrant atmosphere on the beach in the summer, Brighton really is a must-visit destination.

4. Bath

Beautiful Bath is one city that has to be on everyone’s bucket list. Apart from it being one of the most picturesque British cities, Bath offers so many things to do. Highlights include visiting the Bath spas, exploring all of the Jane Austen connections and just stopping off in as many cafes as you can for afternoon tea and cake.

5. Leeds

If you’re a fan of cities then Leeds is one of those places that you have to visit. Offering a walkable city centre, fantastic shopping and some of the best nightlife in the UK, this student city is a must-visit destination. Be sure to make the day trip to York while you’re there, just a short train ride away, for one of the most beautiful and classicly British towns around. 

6. Cornwall

When you think of the UK, great beaches aren’t necessarily something that springs to mind. However, there are plenty of stunning beaches and beachside towns in the UK that are worth exploring. One of the prettiest areas is Cornwall where days can be spent enjoying surfing, breathtaking hikes, quaint bars and tea rooms.

7. Edinburgh

Enchanting Edinburgh is one of Scotlands many treasures. This medieval old town with its stunning architecture and vast green spaces is great to visit all year around and it’s one of the best examples of just how great British cities can be. 

8. The Lake District

For outdoorsy types, the Lake District is one of those must-visit places in the UK. This national park is easily accessible from London and offers plenty of hikes, cosy pubs and photo opportunities so, it’s one place that you really won’t want to miss out on.

9. Devon

Devon is so beautiful and wandering around the coast there, you’d be easily forgiven for thinking you were somewhere more exotic like Croatia. Whether you’re after sandy beaches, medieval towns, hikes in national parks or long coastal walks, Devon really does have it all. 

10. Manchester

Everyone makes it to London but another city that is equally as fascinating, but a lot less popular is the Northern city of Manchester. This edgy city offers a diverse music scene, a world-class nightlife and an infectious coffee culture. So, whether you’ve got a day or a few days to spend there, you’re guaranteed to fall in love with the city. 

There’s so much more to the UK than just London so be sure to add some of these places to your itinerary if you’re planning a trip to the UK. If you’re on a budget try and pre-book your trains and accommodation ahead of time. Alternatively, you could look at booking coaches when it comes to getting around in order to cut your costs dramatically.
