8 ‘Old’ TV Shows Worth The Binge

Holidays? Bored? Want to watch something on TV? Can’t find anything to watch? Need something to consume your time with? There are now plenty of streaming services, YouTube and (… illegal) internet sites available. Each giving you the opportunity to binge-watch many TV shows. From the new to the ‘old’. TV shows from many different genres, including food, sports, documentary, comedy and drama. With the availability of these services, the question is often not how to watch. But, what to watch. The choices are endless. Here is a list of 8 ‘old’ TV shows worth the binge. They are classified as ‘old’ as these series have ended. There won’t be any new episodes to come. You can watch the whole series in one go.

1. Friends (1994-2004)

One of the most memorable, revolutionary and well-known shows. The narrative follows the lives of six friends who live in the same apartment building in New York City. It is a comedy series touching on friendships, relationships and everything in between. The kind of stories everyone can relate to. With some memorable guests including Paul Rudd, Brad Pitt and a young Cole Sprouse, why not give it a go!

2. The Office US (2005-2014)

An adaptation of the original British series of the same name created by Ricky Gervais, this TV show is one of the most renowned shows of the 2000s. A mockumentary TV show depicting the everyday lives of office employees. With too many stars to count, this extremely funny series is well worth watching.

3. How I Met Your Mother (2005-2014)

Another well-known show from the 2000s, it has developed a cult following. This TV show follows the main character Ted Moseby and his four close friends in New York City. This series is framed through Ted, who is in the year 2030 recounting to his son and daughter the events leading up to him meeting their mother.

4. Downtown Abbey (2010-2015)

Taking place in the years leading up to World War I, this series chronicles the lives of the Crawley family and their servants. A historical drama, this TV show looks at the great events of history and the effect on their lives. From the sinking of the Titanic to the outbreak of the First World War. This TV show has received serious acclaim and numerous awards. Catch up on the TV series before the movie comes out soon!

5. Sex and the City (1998-2004)

Based on the novels by Candace Bushnell of the same name, this TV show is set and filmed in New York City. This TV show follows the lives of four women, who despite their different personalities and changing sex lives are inseparable. This show follows multiple storylines touching on modern social issues including sexuality and femininity. After watching this series, you can also watch the 2 movies!

6. Gossip Girl (2007-2012)

Based on the series of books of the same name by Cecil von Ziegsar, this teen drama TV series follows the lives of privileged upper-class teenagers living in Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The series begins with the return of the Upper East Side’s teenage It girl, Serena van der Woodsen. This series has romance, betrayal and mystery, everything you need in a good teen TV show. Fun fact: Gossip Girl is voiced by Kristen Bell!

7. Game of Thrones (2011-2019)

8. Breaking Bad (2008-2013)

Widely regarded as one of the great TV series of all time and winning many awards. With his former student Jesse Pinkman, he produces and sells crystallised meth to establish his family’s financial future before he dies, whilst navigating the crime world.
