Did you know that we judge someone within seven seconds of meeting them. You could simply say hello to a stranger and you would at least have an indication of what kind of person they are. This, however, often always happens with gay stereotypes. We all have our expectations of what a gay person is like and what we expect them to like, the usual ‘myths’. With that said, here are ten gay myths that will blow you away.
For some reason there’s a huge gay myth that says we don’t like sport. I will admit most gay people aren’t so keen with it, however does that mean every gay hates it? Take Jason Collins, he’s a famous basketball player and he’s gay.
I love it when a girl in a teen movie says to the gay character “omg we definitely need to go shopping together.” Yes, most gays do catch their eyes on an item on clothing that their BFF will adore. However, the way some of us gays dress… Well, you would be surprised.
Most people think they’re going to have a great night when they’re going out with their gay friend because there’s a myth that gays can party all night. I’m sorry but you’re wrong. From experience, I can be off to bed after 1 shot of tequila and a double vodka. Gays do love a good movie night as well. Gosh!
It is common for a straight person to say they were in a relationship with their ex for 3 years and for a gay person to say they were with theirs for 3 months. But, that doesn’t mean gays can’t do relationships. That just means every guy they date just aren’t the right ones, and this may mean they go through a guy every month but with how fast time is going. Who wouldn’t?
The one question I hate and most definitely is a myth is “did you always know you were gay or was it a choice?” A choice? Are you for real? I don’t understand why someone would choose it, I mean, I’m proud of who I am but gay people don’t just deicide to switch sexualites.
Why do people think every gay guy wants to be a girl? The reason why a guy is gay is because they want to date men… Right?
It is common for a gay to a girl as their BFF, it’s just something I don’t even think science can come up for a theory for. With that said, when a male speaks to us gays we don’t just want to get in bed with them, we can actually have a normal conversation that doesn’t need to include anything ‘gay.’
In a gay relationship people often ask “who’s the top and who’s the bottom?” This question is so out of date now that in most relationships, even straight ones both partners take their turns pleasuring one another in whichever way they want. It isn’t even about who is who it’s about what somebody prefers and feels comfortable with.
‘Insert laughing emoji’. This shouldn’t even be a myth because you are who you are and no one should try and cure you for being you.
Many straight people say to me “you are so lucky, you don’t ever have to worry about getting a girl pregnant.” I honestly think this is the dumbest thing anyone has ever said to me and I’m going to leave it at that.
