How To Create A Gallery Wall For Your Flat

A gallery wall is the massive trend of 2018. It is seen all over Pinterest and Instagram and can be sure to transform any boring space.  A gallery wall is a collection of pictures made up of all different sizes and designs, that are scattered across a wall. The great thing about a gallery wall, is it can be personal to you.  You can use prints from online retailers or personal photographs of your family perhaps. They are a great way to show off your personal taste and inject some interest into your life, all whilst getting creative. So, if you want tips on how to create a gallery wall for your flat, then keep on reading!

Precise planning:

Although gallery walls are all about being creative and a bit unperfected, it is important to plan with the space you have, so it does not look cluttered and out of place. First things first, pick a wall. A blank, bleak empty space that needs some love is perfect. Next, measure the size of your wall to see the size of the space you are working with, you could then plan how many prints you want in a variety of sizes such as A3, A4 and A5. You can use tape or paper to plan out a visionary wall, to see what you like and don’t like. This is a key step before purchasing, as you will know what you exactly want!

Know your style:

To make the gallery wall look expensive, it would be a good idea to stick to a theme. For instance, travel, nature, fashion or even family memories. This will create consistency and maintain a tidy look. You can seek inspiration on Pinterest who have serious gallery wall goals. You can create boards of your favourite looks so you have an idea of what you are hoping to achieve!

Time to buy:

Now you have thought about and planned the space you have to work with, it is time to buy! A great site is Desenio which have a huge range of art work that are famous for making great gallery walls. It even has a gallery art section to help you create your dream wall. You could also buy prints from places like Etsy and home retailers like Tk-Max and Ikea. If you want to create your own pictures, you can print your own from online websites such as PhotoBox which you can do from your laptop. Remember, you can pick a variety of sizes to create interest to your wall.

Fabulous frames:

Frames are also just as important as the pictures, make sure to pick out a key colour. For instance; gold, white, grey or black which are  great colour options. Depending on the paint colour on your wall and the colour in the pictures, it can affect your choice of frame colour. For example, a print with pink in it will look great with a gold frame. You can also decide on the thickness of the frame which can create a bold or sleeker look. Another great tip is sticking to a plain frame, so all of the focus is on the pictures else it could look messy! You can get frames from a range of retailers such as TK-Max or Ikea!

Time to put it all together:

Once you have your frames, it is time to put it all together. Refer back to your planning stage where you planned what size photos you want there. You can hang the photos with nails, or if you want to protect the walls and paint, you can use command strips which are available from selected retailers.
