5 Great Coffee Places In Manchester You Need To Check Out ASAP

Manchester is the kind of place that has new coffee places popping up on every corner. With so much choice how are you supposed to decide where you want to go for your morning coffee break? Before you know it you’ve gone completely full circle and wound up back in Costa or Starbucks again. To make things easier, here’s five great coffee places in Manchester you need to check out!

1. Ziferblat

Within the depths of the northern quarter, you’ll find one of the more unconventional coffee places in Manchester, Ziferblat. At Ziferblat you don’t pay by what you eat and drink, you pay per minute per person. Currently, the going rate is 8p per minute! So be sure to watch your time carefully when you enter here.

The most important thing about Ziferblat, though, is the atmosphere. The array of comfy chairs, lacquered tables, a smorgasbord of cakes and biscuits and the sheer amount of board games available is why you can waste so many afternoons here. There’s even a drawing station! It’s the perfect set up for reading, studying, writing, you name it!

2. The Anchor

Just off Oxford Road, Right next to the famous Curry Mile is this sweet little hidden gem. When you go to The Anchor, you walk out asking yourself, “Why wasn’t that more expensive?” The amazing service provided by warm and bubbly staff will make you think you’re in a five-star joint, not to mention its usage of Monmouth Coffee beans!

The Anchor makes for the perfect brunch location for an easy Saturday morning (sadly they’re closed on Sundays!). Don’t forget to pair your coffee with one of their incredible bagels or soups!

3. Fig And Sparrow

There’s only one real way to describe Fig and Sparrow when it comes to coffee. Scrupulous. Although they’re much smaller in size than the other coffee places on this list, it’s more than made up for with big heart. Whenever you’re served a caffeinated beverage you know that someone has been painstakingly making sure that it is absolutely to your liking. That is how much Fig and Sparrow like coffee.

Matching their beautiful coffee is the immaculate interior design, making Fig and Sparrow one of the loveliest and most attractive coffee places to spend your time in.

4. Takk

Industrial, Scandinavian and also strangely swanky in design, Takk likes to market itself as the place to be. If you’re not at Takk, then where exactly are you? In keeping with the Icelandic theme, Takk specialises in lighter roasts typical of that region which pair greatly with a range of sandwiches and cakes available.

It’s another hot spot for constant laptop users which, in itself, just adds a little extra to the cool vibes Takk gives off. Not only that but with frequent gigs and music nights, it’s hard to say that Takk is lacking at all in the ways of atmosphere.

5. Pot Kettle Black

Pot Kettle Black (PKB) gets its kicks from Australia. And, if you’ve ever been to Melbourne, you’ll understand why this makes their coffee amazing. Coffee culture in Australia is huge. So huge in fact, that Starbucks wasn’t able to make a profit in the capital city of Canberra because it couldn’t compete with the independent coffee shops. Crikey!

This place is forward thinking, and high-end in appearance that has the coffee to match. Paired with their mouth-watering cakes and other pastries makes PKB an absolute must go! Currently, there are two shops on the go, One in Barton Arcade, and another recently opened in Spinningfields.
