Top 10 Free Things To Do In London

London is generally incredibly expensive, and whether you’re visiting, just moved here, or just have some spare time, its nice to get to know they city without spending an entire pay check.

There are some things you can do here in London for FREE!

1. National History Museum

Located in South Kensington, this is an awesome day out or all the family. Or just to explore on your own. The building itself is beautiful and its full of exhibitions and specimens throughout history. It also hosts a range of different events, which depend on the season.This is a definite must see in London.

2. Science Museum

The Science Museum is a magical experience for anyone that goes. It has many exhibitions, and a wide range of interactive galleries. However being that its one of London’s major tourist attractions, is rarely ever not busy. My advice for going would be to avoid the summer holidays and weekends.

3. V&A

This Victoria and Albert Museum is full of English gems. Its the worlds largest museum of decorative arts and design. There is a permanent display of almost 2 and a half million objects. Its at a slower pace than the above museums but its great if you’re visiting and just want something to do.

4. Tate Modern

The Tate Modern is London’s biggest art institute which homes four art gallery museums. The UK’s national collection of British art, and international modern and contemporary art. It’s main sponsor is the UK Department for Digital, Culture, Media and sport – so is not government funded. But its still completely free, and completely fabulous

5. Hyde Park

Hyde part is more of a seasonal London delight. Its fabulous in summer (if you’re not afraid of squirrels). It had 350 acres of beautiful grounds and greenery springs, and is usually lively and popping with people.In the winter however it holds Winter Wonderland, a spectacular event, with ice rinks and mulled wine – and its all freee.

6. Buckingham Palace

If you’re super into the Royals and the Monarchy, or are visiting London for the first and last time this is a cool place to come visit and kill time. If you’re not, it is a beautiful building and the guards can be somewhat entertaining. Don’t get too excited when visiting because there’s not loads to do here. But its one for a Bucket-ham List.

7. Brick Lane

Taking a walk down Brick Lane is completely free, however its near impossible not to go into the quirky pop ups, stores and restaurants, and spend a little cash. If you have strong will power however Brick Lane is full of energy and you get to experience a the more urban nitty gritty of london.

8. Houses Of Parliament

The houses of parliament is the place where all the important UK decisions are made. If you time it right you might get to see some politics take place, if not there’s not much going on here. But its definitely important landmark in British history.

9. Greenwich market

Although this is only really popping on the weekends, Greenwich market is full of homemade bits and bobs you can sample and look at. And the area of Cutty Sark is great to explore and look out over the Thames.

10. Box Park

Box Park, is a very large inside/outside bar – essentially. There’s a number of pop-up shops under the bar, with lots of different cute unique items. perfect for window shopping – as items are on the pricey side. Up stairs though is full of drinks and food but if you’re looking to not spend any money there’s great music and often a DJ set, so good times all round.
