One of the best parts about being in Greek life is the formal that ends the year off with a bang. Formal season can be hectic, from finding the most flattering dress to a date that would not only facilitate in accommodating hot pics but also quality dancing and an overall good time, there is A LOT to be done. Despite all the stress that goes into preparing for this eventful night, it is probably the best night you will have and here are 10 reasons why you just have to attend your Greek life formal.
Despite the extensive amount of money you’ll be blowing on your Greek life formal dress, shoes, hair and makeup, at the end of the day you will be looking like a bombshell and that’s all that matters. Plus, if money is the problem just trade dresses with a sister or buy one off of one for cheap. I mean, what else is sisterhood for?
Fraternities and sororities are expensive and that means the food is also expensive. Or at least, it better be. We’re not paying hundreds of dollars a semester for no reason, we expect good food. Thankfully, for the most part, Greek life formals offer delicious food and if that’s not a good reason to go we don’t know what is.
Yes, it’s no secret that all of us in Greek life have at least one of those. That one frat guy you know is bound to step all over your heart but at this point you’re so used to it you kind of like it…yeah that one. You see him at every mixer and every Greek event and this is finally your chance to get the guy, bring him to your formal and maybe snag an invite to his. Are you really going to let that opportunity slide?
This one is quite self explanatory. Your Greek life formal is the ultimate excuse to take a billion photos and continuously spam your instagram with them. Regular selfies and photos with your friends are cool but photos where you actually look like you tried are even better. And let’s not forget that with a hot date, these pictures are even better, and they work as the perfect way to portray that you actually have a life. We all need those every once in a while.
Just picture this. You’re with all your sorority sisters (at least most of them…well the ones that actually show up at events anyways), you’re all looking like your best selves, dancing, singing, trying to hide how drunk you are and eating good; the definition of a quality sisterhood experience. Plus, bonding when under the influence is simply the best kind of bonding, enough said.
It’s Greek life…something crazy is bound to happen. Greek life formal is in other words the ultimate place to put the wildest partiers together, all in one place, only to watch a whole scene go down. Would you really want to miss that?
The main reason you should go to your Greek life formal is because you deserve the prom you never had. Filled with all your fake friends from high school who barely knew how to handle their alcohol, prom was overrated and mediocre, and we’re sure everyone can agree with that. Formal is really just prom 2.0 but ten times better, with better food, a better venue and even better people.
Dancing is probably the best part of Greek formal, or any event for that matters. If there’s one thing Greeks are good at it’s dancing like there’s no tomorrow, and that includes dancing like a maniac at formal. And when mixed with alcohol, getting down on the dance floor becomes even more worthwhile.
Let’s be real, all those ceremonies and traditional events you had at your Chapter meetings were in some or another kind of “culty.” Thankfully, at your Greek life formal you don’t have to sing any sorority songs and hold hands with your sisters. This is your one chance, please…take it!
Last but not least, the after party. The most memorable (or rather un-memorable) part of the night, where everyone ends off the night with a killer party, at a club or a pub, with some good tunes, good drinks and even better company. The after party is basically the formal on crack, but then again, who’s complaining, right?
