I Met That Dad From Gossip Girl

Remember Gossip Girl, “Show could you!” “B if that’s how you wanna play, then let’s play!”  Literally, who doesn’t, watching Gossip Girl was pretty much my form of religion. If not only for the vicious circles of juicy hookups, it will always hold a dear place in my heart for the fabulous fashion!

The Big Apple

A few years back I was granted a wonderful opportunity, a lifetime experience to partake in Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week. I purchased a plan ticket packed my bags ready to set off and sore the skies from Calgary (Canada) to New York. New York a city full of color, creativity, culture, a vibration of life!

The First Time In Experience

There is a lot of planning in producing an amazing Fashion Show. Even if the show itself is only a fifteen-minute catwalk. It can take a whole day or two in just setting up. There are plans to go by honestly, the reality is that plans do change in a split second. The first show set up I took part in was a super long day and a half for me. That time I had to be on my “A” game, I felt as if I was competing in some form of an Olympic sport.

The Next Day

I was working a certain role for the Front of House. Making sure chairs were in the right amount of rows and numbers. That the VIP name charts on the seats had the correct name written on it, and checking to see if the Media Kits had all of the essentials within it. I was setting up the seating for the first row that was closest to the runway. As I was placing some of the VIP names on chairs I realized that it was practically the whole main cast of Gossip Girl. Even though I was very tired, I felt super stoked. Excuse me? Chance Crawford yes, please!

“Doing My Duty”

Since I was the one who set up the seating, (PR) Public Relations told me I was responsible to usher in the guests and set them in their given sections. That each person has a ticket indicating alphabetically which row they are in and numerically what seat number they have. I remember asking what about VIP? I was then told that I didn’t have to worry about seating them, VIP usually enters through the Back of House and someone from that end would seat them. So I was performing my task showing people to their seating placement.

A man pretty much my height (I am kind of tall), wearing a fashionable looking suit approaches me smiling. He tells me there should be a seat for him. I blink at him and asked if he has a ticket. The man’s expression changes looking crossed with me and says, that can’t be I’m Matthew Settle! I repeat myself again looking blankly at him explaining how the seating is done.

At this point now buddy ain’t having it. Feeling pressured I ask him kindly to wait a moment. I go to PR and say that there is some dude here who is demanding his seat. I tell her his name, she comes back with me so she can show him where he is seated. I finally see Matthew Settle being seated at the VIP first row, sitting beside Blake Lively across from where I was standing. It finally clicked in, Rufus Humphrey lonely boy’s father.

Facepalm! Sorry I did not know your acting name. You’re that dad from Gossip Girl!
